After using Burn Up, Ho-Oh was able to get burned. After switching out, the Ho-Oh was still burned even after regaining its fire type.
(I used Ho-Oh in the replay instead of Coalossal but its still the same answer.)
If you’re asking if Burn Upitselfburns, then the other answers cover that.
Hope this helped.
It doesnt burn itself. Instead, it loses its fire type. For example, if you use it on a moltres, it will become only a flying type.
This movedoesn’tgive a burn to the user. Ever.
Burn Up fails if the user is not Fire-type, making the move always fail after the first use until the Pokémon regains its Fire type (either by switching out, or other type changing effects such as through Protean or Reflect Type); Burn Up cannot thaw the user if the move would fail (due to the user not being Fire-type).
Here’s what it does:
If used by a Fire-type Pokémon, Burn Up will thaw out the user if it is frozen, and then inflict damage to the target and cause the user to lose its Fire type.
If the user is a pure Fire-type Pokémon, it will become typeless.
All of the Pokémon that can learn Burn Up are Fire types.
