Does happiness affect return in online battles?

Because I’m wondering if I should reach it to diggersby. If not that then Nother normal type move

The easiest way to increase a Pokemon’s happiness is to give your Diggserby aSoothe Bellwhich you can find inShalour Cityby talking to the lady in the house left of the PokeCenter. Yes, Return works with high friendship both off and online. However, things like when it says “[Pokemon] read your mind and dodged the attack!” won’t work.
