How do Power items work in Scarlet/Violet?

1 minute read

Sorry if this is a dumb question but how much EVs do they really give? Lets say I have a Ralts holding a power weight, If I fight a Chansey it’ll give me 10 Evs because Chansey gives 2 EVs by default and the power weight gives 4 EVs per EV. But if I fight a Blissey it should give me 15 EVs because Blissey gives 3 EVs making it so I have to fight around ~17 Blisseys to get 252 EVs, however I find it that even after fighting 17 Blisseys it is still not enough and I have to fight around ~23 to max out my Pokemon’s EVs. So how many HP EVs would a Blissey really give if my Pokemon was holding a power weight?

If a Pokémon holding a Power item gains experience from a battle, the Power item awards it additional EVs in a specific stat (in addition to the EVs it would normally earn). From Generation IV to VI, they grant 4 extra EVs;in Generation VII onward, they grant 8 EVs. The EVs granted by Power items are doubled by the effect of Pokérus.

So since this is S / V, the Power Weight would award you 8 extra EVs. It doesn’t reward you 4 EVs per EV the Pokémon grants. Fighting Blissey should give you11EVs. So it makes sense why you have to face 23 Blissey’s to Max out your HP EVs, since 23 X 11 = 253. Hope I helped!
