How to successfully chain a Shiny with the Pokeradar in X And Y (Detailed Instructions please, and no videos)?

I have tried so many times but I can’t chain a shiny with the pokeradar in x and y. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some things you should be aware of before attempting to chain Pokémon:

Step 1.Choose a patch of grass. Preferably a large one, about 5x5, but one where you can see easily from an above angle.

Step 2.Use a Repel

Step 3.Start the chain. Once you encounter the Pokémon you want to chain, you can either defeat it or catch it to continue the chain. It is best to start your chain in the middle of the field.

Step 4.Continue the chain. After the first manual shake, another few patches of grass will shake. Walk in to one of them. Picking the appropriate patch is important. Remember the nature of the shaking of the first patch. Was it soft shaking? Or hard shaking? Pick the one that shakes the most like the first patch. Donotwalk in to patches that are directly diagonal or adjacent to you. They are most likely to break your chain, and try to avoid patches on the edge of the field. If you don’t see any patches that seem appropriate, simply reset the PokéRadar until you find one that does. The act of resetting your PokéRadar is simply manually using the PokéRadar again, and does not break your chain.

Step 5.Keep repeating step 4 until you get to a chain of 40. Remember to record the amount of chains. The. Move to step 6.

Step 6.Once you reach 40 chains, the shiny rate will increase no further. So once you reach 40 chains, simply keep resetting the PokéRadar until you see a sparkling patch. This patch contains a shiny. Don’t forget PokéBalls.

But I would just recommend the chain fishing if your after fish and Masuda breeding if you want particular IV’s/Nature.

The first thing you need is to stock up on lots of max repels and balls. Chose whichever ones you need for the Pokemon you’re trying to capture. Find a large area of grass, register the pokeradar, walk in the middle of the grass, use your repel, then use the pokeradar. Make sure you are NOT wearing skates or riding a bike.

Once you find the Pokemon species you want to hunt, catch it or make it faint. Remember that Pokemon with lower spawn rates can take longer to find. You cannot run. Once you beat or successfully capture the Pokemon, look at the grass patches that shake.-It is slowly shaking and probably doesn’t have the same Pokemon.-It is shaking at a moderate pace, and has about a 50/50 chance of spawning the same Pokemon.-The patch is shaking fast and most likely has the Pokemon you need.-It sparkles! You got your shiny.Your best bet is to go for the fast shaking grass.

Using the same rules above, you need to pay attention to the grass tile your in.

The diamond represents your location. Everything else represents grass patches. The green boxes represents 4 tiles away. Small green dots are slow moving patches, white dots are medium speed patches, and big green dots represent fast moving patches. Anything beyond 4 tiles won’t have the same odds to guarantee a high chances of the same Pokemon spawning. Even if it is 4 tile patches, don’t take it unless it is fast moving grass. If there are no good patches, walk 50 steps and use the radar again. Once you reach a chain of 40, you have the highest chances for a shiny. Shinies do not continue a chain.
