Is Shadow Giratina shiny locked?

1 minute read

The one in BDSP. Is it shiny locked? I saw this one video on Reddit but I have no idea if it’s legit or not. It’d be a cool hunt to do if not…

Side question, does Shadow Giratina appear in the Pokedex? I’m too busy hunting Latios to find out myself.

No.

After around 3,543 resets, the dragon finally shined. The only visual difference is the sparkles, nothing else, and obviously you can’t catch it. As a fun test, I sent out a Ditto, and it transformed into a shiny Origin Giratina.

As for my second question, when you view it in the Pokedex, the Origin form will appear, and it is shiny.

Late edit: I realized I never added images as proof, so I’m adding them now.

The shiny shadow Giratina, after around 3543 resets.

Ditto transforming into a shiny Origin Giratina.

Shiny Origin Giratina showing up in the Pokedex (I didn’t get the Griseous Orb).

Based on everything I checked,no.

Game Rantrepeats the story.Bulbapediaonly includes gift Mew and Jirachi and in-game trades.Seribeeseems to confirm Shadow Giratina isn’t shiny-locked because it mentions all legendary Pokémon aren’t shiny-locked.

Shadow Giratina doesn’t seem toappearin the Pokédex. Couldn’t find much more about that. Hope this helps!

Edit: So YouTuberThe Legendary Nictested out what would happen if you used Transform with Mew against Shadow Giratina. The Mew ended up turning into a regular Orgin-Form Giratina. I believe this would mean that if you could possibly catch Shadow Giratina, it would enter into the Pokédex as Origin-Form Giratina.
