Is there any difference between Detect and Protect?

I don’t see the difference except for the pp.

Yeah. Like Archen said choose ProtectThere isNOmeaningful difference between Detect and Protect - Detect is just a fighting type while Protect is a normal type (and has more pp). Their effects are exactly the same, through different Pokemon may not be able to learn one, bu are able to learn the other.

In hackmons, if you have protean, detect makes you fighting, and protect makes you normal. ~mailjiggly

Imprison and protect, while uncommon, can lock any Pokemon from Protecting, which can be deadly in Double/Triples. However, Detect isn’t annulated, so it can potentially serve a purpose barring its different typing and less PP. On a Mega-Lucario for example.
