Is this why Bannete wants to find the kid who abandoned it ?
In a Hoehn episode, there is an episode with a Shuppet and Max.In the end Max leaves Shuppet (I can’t remember why)
Bannette’s pokedex entry :A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it.
Probably the Child is Max and maybe the Shuppet evolved and Bannette now seeks Max.

I don’t think this is possible because all the Pokedex’s database were made before Max left his banette.Although Gamefreak could of been very clever and useforeshadowingor in general linking two events to each even if they are not directly linked.
Clever Gamefreak ;P
That in this case seems highly likely. I doubt that this is the true origin of Bannete as GAME FREAK rarely lets in on everything about a single species. Also, it comes down to individual cases, this is why it happened to Max yes, but perhaps not everyone in the same way. I don’t think that is why ALL Bannete want to do that, but definitely the one you spoke of.
Can you please tell me the name of this particular episode so I can have a look myself?

Is it this episode?
Shuppet first appeared in Take This House and Shuppet. Max got lost in an abandoned mansion and made friends with a Shuppet that was living there. Max allowed Shuppet to pull pranks to scare the others because he was angry with May.
Emerald Pokedex Banette: An abandoned plush doll became this Pokémon. They are said to live in garbage dumps and wander about in search of the children that threw them away.
I think they based that episode on Banettes Pokedex entry but I’m not sure
