Moves not passed down through breeding?

1 minute read

I just asked asked this question but this site claims that I have asked no questions, so I will ask it again. I’m sorry if this results in a double post somehow.I have mated two Vaporeons together that know the same move set. As far as I’ve been able to learn any move known by both parents should get passed down. But the child Eevee received no moves at all from the parents. Why did this happen?

This may have happened because the moves in your Vaporeons' movesets are not part of the Eevee’sEgg Moves.

The only moves that Eevee can receive via breeding are onthis list.Vaporeon can learn all those moves but only through Egg Moves, so if your Vaporeon did not get any Egg Moves when it was bred, if it was bred at all, then basically your Vaporeon doesn’t have any of Eevee’s egg moves, and cannot pass down their moves to the offspring. Sorry. D: (Note, in the above link if you’re not playing X and Y, just change the link to dp, or bw, depending on the games your playing.)

Hope I helped. :)Sources: Experience and Above Link

It’s not the case that any move the parents know will pass down to their offspring.

Only compatible TM moves and specific egg moves will pass down. In your case, say Vaporeon has Last Resort. Eevee does not get Last Resort as an egg move, despite learning it via level up, meaning Last Resort will not appear as one of the hatched Eevee’s moves. However, say one of your Vaporeons has Charm, which is an egg move for Eevee. Charm would appear on the hatched Eevee’s moveset.

The TM moves inherited changed in Gen VI, and it’s no longer the case that any compatible TM move will be inherited, but only compatible egg moves that are also TM moves.
