Offensive Substitute strategies?

1 minute read

Substitute is commonly used as a defensive move, to avoid being revenge killed and for other useful stuff. But my question is, are there offensive strategies involving substitute?

I’ve come across things like SubKeldeo and SubGyarados that were surprisingly difficult to take down. So I want such offensive substitute strategies. (So no SubToxic Gliscor, and SubSeed Whimsicott etc…)

Please try to avoid Ubers.

Ok, ok, I have some experience in competive, and I really try not to go with a lot of OU and Uber Pokèmon because they tend to be a bit more OP. So let me introduce you to my favorite LeftSub (Leftover and Substitute) Offence Pokèmon, the NU Samurott.

This thing, when used right, can be a PAIN in the butt. I battled a Uber White Kyurem and won. No, I’m not kidding, I won, so that’s why my LeftSubSamurott has always been my favorite.

Now, I know what your thinking, that NU Pokèmon are, well, are never used, and WHY am I using one when there are better Pokèmon out there. Well, I’ll tell you why:

Of course, they’re more Pokèmon suitable for this role, such as Blastoise, for example, but I wanted to use Samurott for this because he NEVER gets any love :(

Here’s his moveset:
