Was this intentional at all?

I’m sure gamefreak had it’s crazy ideas behind these, I’m certain of it. Its just too strange.

Flaf is right, this is a question only GameFreak can answer. But I’m going with no on both counts.

There is no logical reason for Kakuna to be wearing a tie. I didn’t actually notice it until you mentioned, but now that I have looked for it I can see it. But really there is absolutely no reason for it to be intentional.

Well the Asian Ghost thing is, firstly, pretty racist, which something GameFreak tries to avoid at all costs. I mean look at what they did with Jynx when some people thought it was racist. So now we have a few banned episodes and a new purple skinned Jynx instead. Even after seeing the idea, I still don’t really see the resemblance to ghost anyway. Sure you could take the nostrils as being slitty eyes, but the outline looks more like a Ditto than a ghost to me anyway. So maybe its an Asian Ditto? Still not very likely, but I think the whole idea is a bit silly to begin with.

Yeah life Flaf said only Gamefreak could properly answer this… Who knows what goes on in their wacky heads? :3

But in all seriousness, I seriously doubt Gamefreak intended for anything like that to happen.

Seeing Kakuna with a tie and Psyduck with a beak of an asian ghost (I couldn’t see that one o.o) is a matter of perception, and probably doesn’t occur to some people. Like I never actually noticed the Kakuna one until you pointed it out and I still don’t recognise the Asian Ghost one haha. (All I can infer from it is are the slits eyes? ._. Yush I’m stereotyping asians now)BTW Psyduck’s beak is drawn off a Platypus beak I think ;-;

Additionally, no offense, but the Asian thingy seems kinda racist. Gamefreak tends to attempt to avoid racial stuff, with the last example I can recall apparently being Jynx, which later had a sprite change because of that. And Kakuna makes no sense having a tie… since when did bug Pokemon where ties o_O

Anyway, you can go search any Pokemon site and there won’t be any trivia relating to what you noticed :P (I already did a quick check xD)

Kakuna is definitely wearing a tie. Although I’m not sure if it was even intentional. It could have been “a happy accident” as bob ross would say, or a creative animator that got through before GF noticed and kept it after they launched the show/games, or maybe it was an easter egg hidden by gamefreak themselves. We won’t know unless they admit it.
