I suppose I’ll take a shot at this question:
I asked about this moveseton this thread, and I’ll be referring to the response that I received to help.
Is this set viable?Viability wise, it isn’t. Even without Lagging Tail,Reuniclus is still slowif you defeated the Pokemon that was holding Lagging Tail that you tricked the Lagging Tail on to. Dark Type Pokemon such as Urshifu can OHKO it before it can even use Trick. Also, Reuniclus really isn’t meant to outspeed Pokémon in the metagame.
If you still insist on using this set, here is what you need to consider:Dark Type Pokemon (notably Tyranitar):Even if you somehow was able to Trick the Lagging Tail onto Tyranitar (maybe due to a predicted switch) , Reuniclus' only good option is Flash Cannon, which Tyranitar can still take due to the 1.5 SpD boost from Sand Stream. Tyranitar can also knock out Reuniclus due to its high attack, which can be higher due to Choice Band, Weakness Policy, or Dragon Dance.Special Walls (notably Blissey):Blissey’s HP and acccess to Softboiled can make it hard for Reuniclus to take out. Toxic can be a problem if you run Regenerator instead of Magic Gaurd.
According to the response, good partners would be Urshifu and Rillaboom, since they can take out special walls.
For movesets, maybe you can try these:
Rillaboom @ Choice BandAbility: Grassy SurgeEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Grassy Glide- High Horsepower- Superpower- U-turn
Urshifu @ Choice BandAbility: Unseen FistEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Close Combat- Poison Jab- Wicked Blow- U-turn
While this set isn’t really viable, Urshifu and Rillaboom could make good teammates for this set since they can both take out special walls and have access to U-Turn, which can cause Regenerator to become annoying.
Hope this helps.
Reuniclus is best suited towards bulky offense teams looking for a Calm Mind sweeper and sponge throughout the match. Reuniclus really appreciates Spikes support, so Ferrothorn and Skarmory make for excellent partners. Spikes help wear down Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Urshifu, and Hippowdon, and the aforementioned Spikes users have decent type-synergy with Reuniclus. Dark-types are usually Reuniclus' biggest problem, so Fighting and Fairy-types make for good partners. Clefable can support Reuniclus with Stealth Rock, and acts as a good answer to Tyranitar and Urshifu. Urshifu also makes for a great partner, easily taking on Tyranitar, while Reuniclus in return can help Urshifu against the likes of Toxapex and Clefable. Ghost-types such as Aegislash and Dragapult can force Reuniclus out, so Dark-types such as Mandibuzz and Tyrantiar make for great partners. Lastly, while Reuniclus can beat special walls such as Ferrothorn and Hippowdon one on one, a wallbreaker can make this a much less tedious task. As such, wallbreakers such as Specs Kyurem and Specs Magnezone can make for good partners.
sourceI also very much recommend using a different moveset. Teach it calm mind to raise its stats, recover to heal without losing the calm mind boosts, psyshock to hit special walls and opposing calm mind users, and focus blast to hit dark and steel. Give it a life orb so it can use its item against multiple different opponents without having to use trick, and replace regenerator with magic guard to prevent damage from life orb, hazards, leech seed, and toxic. Give it 252 HP/212 Def/44 Spe to raise the defense stat that calm mind doesn’t raise and outspeed 0 Spe Toxapex.
I recommend using a teammate like:
Gardevoir @ Choice Specs-to give Gardevoir’s high SpA stat a little boostAbility: Synchronize-to give status Pokemon bad karmaEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature-to make Gardevoir as fast as possible in order to sweep any threats- Moonblast- Energy Ball- Mystical Fire- PsychicMoonblast-STAB move to eliminate threats to your Reuniclus such as Tyranitar and Grimmsnarl that can lower your Reuniclus’s SpA.Psychic:-STAB move to eliminate Ghost types that will probably OHKO ReuniclusEnergy Ball-To KO Hippowdon with Yawn and Barraskewda with CrunchMystical Fire-To 0HKO or 2HKO threatening Pokemon against Gardevoir like Bisharp and Sticky Hold Accelgor that could also prove a threat against Reuniclus.
All in all, I recommend using Reuniclus first so you can help Gardevoir out by tricking the opponent with lagging tail. Accelgor with Sticky Hold can easily be demolished by Gardevoir’s Mystical Fire.
Hopefully you would find this very helpful as right now I feel very tired typing this all down.
Those are just a few.Onto the ‘Intimidator’:Because Reuniclus is prone to Dark, Ghost and Bug, the obvious support mon to go for would be….Incineroar!Arcanine is a nice alternative due to its speed and capability to snarl effectively. However, Incineroar has much more bulk and can take out Ghosts with STAB:0 Atk Incineroar Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Dragapult: 156-186 (95.7 - 114.1%) – 75% chance to OHKOYikes!Additionally, Incineroar has access to Fake-Out, leaving those who are unprepared in for a flinch + a clean-up from Reuniclus.
So the optimal moveset for Incineroar is:
Incineroar ADAMANT Nature (I prefer this due to its offensive pressure. However, any other non-hindering is fine)@Assault Vest (to be a mixed wall) OR: Sitrus Berry (Because who doesn’t love a tasty fruit?)EVS: 232 HP, 56 Attack, 200 defense, 20 speed. —— 20 speed is to outspeed most other 60 base speed mons (which is a LOT), not 4 because that is too common, 200 in defense because more than Half of OU are all physical sweepers, chuck 232 in HP because it will become a 2HKO or 3HKO rather than a OHKO, 56 in Attack to threaten Dragapult (Also gotta remember Dragapult will most likely go for Phantom Force turn 1).Movepool:Flare Blitz —— Stab and for annoying threats like Rillaboom, Amoongus, Ferrethorn, Copperjah, DarmanitanDarkest Lariat/Throat Chop —— Depends. Because of dynamax, mons can boost their defense regularly/Corviknight using Iron defense. Darkest Lariat will ignore this (Though the main reason why you use it over Throat Chop is because of its extra 5 BP. Throat chop to stop Hyper Voice Spammers – I’m looking at you Primarina and Sylveon).Fake out - DuhParting Shot/Close Combat—— Parting Shot is optimal. However, I like close combat because of the shocked faces against other Incineroars ****That’s funny.
More or less, Incineroar for its fake out, menacing offensive possibilities and Intimidate. Not too sure if you will agree. However, nothing can go too wrong with Incineroar.
Aim for a fairy type Pokemon to protect it from dark type. Or bug can also help but since rock type moves can be learnt by many Pokemon, fairy type is a safe game.
since you said partners, Ill do a full team, and this is going to be for the doubles format, and yes when I mean full team I want you to know what it will use to do damage, you may be surprised :)
Reuniculus:
Ability: Magic Guard (we dont want status)Evs: HP: 252, SAtt: 252, SDef: 4ProtectPsychicRecoverTrick Room
Dragapultbefore you wonder, WHY IS DRAGAPULT ON A DOUBLES FORMAT? ITS DEFENCE SUCKS!
hear me out, dragapult is actually good in this situation, because dragapult is such a threat, people will probarbly go after it, buying time for Reuniclus to do damage, remember, this isnt an attacking setItem: Focus SashAbility: Cursed BodyEvs: Spe: 252, Defence: 252, SDef: 4Will-O-WispHelping HandSucker PunchAstonishuse this 1st, its smartest
