What are Some Good Hazard Layers in Gen V NU?
So yeah, I’m looking for good hazard layers in NU. I’m not gonna give an explanation because should pick up what I’m saying.
Scolipede @ Focus SashAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Spikes- Megahorn- Earthquake- Rock Slide
Blah, blah, blah. Once is lazy, BLAH.
Scolipede likes to get up 2 layers of Spikes so his friends can have fun sweeping and he can hit hard BLAH. Megahorn is for a powerful STAB BLAH. Rock Slide and Earthquake make an EdgeQuake combo BLAH.
So, put your hazard setters from NU, but don’t be lazy, BLAH.

Garbodor @ Black SludgeTrait: AftermathEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDefImpish Nature
My bulky hazard setter Garbodor. Spikes and Toxic Spikes are pretty self-explanatory. Pain Split is an option over Toxic Spikes for healing. Toxic obviously isn’t for poisoning the foe. Rock Blast is for breaking substitutes effectively and hits your Scolipede hard, while Gunk shot is STAB and both come off of a decent attack stat.
Miltank @ LeftoversTrait: Thick FatEVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 DefCareful Nature
Definitely my favorite NU Pokemon. Stealth Rock is your hazard. Heal Bell clears your team of status and helps it live longer. Milk Drink helps Miltank to stay in the battle and keep supporting. Seismic Toss does a steady 100 HP and breaks most Subs.
Armaldo @ LeftoversTrait: Battle ArmorEVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SDefImpish Nature
Rapid Spin gets away the hazard that can really hurt Armaldo and his team. Stealth Rock is hazards. Toxic poisons the foe. Rock Blast is STAB. God I’m getting lazy… :P
Torkoal @ LeftoversTrait: white smokeEVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpDNature: Bold- Yawn- Stealth Rocks- Lava Plume- Rapid Spin
while not having very good defensive typing, this thing serves as a rocks setter AND a rapid spinner, which is always good. it also keeps the opposing team in check with yawn.
Cradily @ LeftoversTrait: Storm DrainEVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpDNature: Bold- Stealth Rocks- Toxic- Recover- Earthquake/ Rock slide/ Seed bomb
This thing is very bulky and hard to bring down
Golem @ Custap BerryTrait: SturdyEVs: 252 Atk/ 4 HP/ 252 SpeNature: Adamant- Stealth Rocks- Earthquake- Rock slide- Explosion
Suicide lead.
Metang @ EvioliteTrait: Clear BodyEVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 SpDNature: Adamant- Stealth Rocks- Toxic- Bullet Punch- Meteor MashRocks, then do as much damage as possible.
Piloswine @ EvioliteTrait: Thick FatEVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 DefNature: Adamant- Stealth Rocks- Earthquake- Ice Shard- Icicle crash
This thing is enormously underused, and is a great tank/ rocks setter
Regirock @ LeftoversTrait: SturdyEVs: 252 HP/ 252 SpD/ 4 DefNature: Careful- Stealth Rock- Stone Edge- Earthquake- Thunder Wave/ Toxic
This one is a utility and nothing else. The EVs are to patch up his SpD, because his Def is untouchable.
Roselia @ EvioliteTrait: Natural CureEVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SpDNature: Calm- spikes- Synthesis- giga drain- sludge bomb
it is one of the only Pokemon in NU that can use spikes, and can act as a status absorber
There are infact a lot of good entry hazard layers in NU, but I will only give you one of each kind
One of the best Spikers you will probably get in NU is Cacturne. Why? It has great offensive abilities and can usually survive a hit to set up spikes. If that isn’t the case, focus sash has it back. Not to forget that it has access to sucker punch, a great STAB priority move that many NU Pokemon seem to fall to. It can easily switch into a water type and start setting up because it might have troubles as a lead but you can usually predict the opponents lead in team preview
Cacturne @ Focus SashTrait: Water AbsorbAdamant NatureEV Spread: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpdMoveset:- Spikes- Sword Dance / Substitute- Seed Bomb- Sucker Punch
Roselia is a very unique Pokemon as it is one of the few that has access to both Spikes as toxic Spikes. Not to mention her notable bulk behind eviolite. Her typing grants resistance to water, grass, electric… thus making her counter many annoying Pokemon such as Ludicolo, Alomomola and co. However she lacks in defense making her an easy prey for many NU kings such as Scolipede that could just destroy her. Despite this, Roselia is a very nice Pokemon to use.
Roselia @ EvioliteTrait: Natural CureCalm natureEV SPread: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpDMoveset:- Spikes- Rest / Synthesis- Giga Drain- Sludge Bomb/Toxic Spikes
For stealth Rocks Armaldo is a very nice choice as it has decent bulk and a very handy typing. Although it is often preferred to be used as a a physical sweeper it is an excellent entry hazard layer as well. You could combine the swift swim sweep with stealth rocks making it a very deadly Pokemon. However Armaldo must have a great team that is able to support it 24/7 as threats are just behind the corner (Samurott, Sawk etc…). It is also a good spinner however it must be wary of Misdreavus and golurk that seem to be around very often.
Armaldo @ Lum berry/leftoversTrait: Swift Swim (Battle Armoris also a great option but just to play a little bit with your opponent’s mind)Impish natureEV Spread: 252 Def / 126 SpDef / 126 Attack/ 4 SpeMoveset:- Stealth Rocks- Rapid Spin- Earthquake- Rock blast
