What are some good spinners?

3 minute read

Not sure if this one is asked, but I need a spinner for my OU team. In case you didn’t know, a spinner is a Pokemon who has the moveRapid Spin. I would like to see some in other tiers too. When answering, please give the tier, the Pokemon, the moveset and stuff and the explanation. ‘Nuff said from me, soGet posting friends!

Trait: Natural CureEVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDefTimid Nature

Starmie is pretty much the best offensive Rapid Spinner in OU. With great coverage, good bulk and the ability to beat nearly every Spin blocker, it is no wonder why this is a staple on so many offensive and balanced teams alike.Surfis a reliable STAB that gets fantastic neutral coverage and is boosted by the ever present rain. But if power is what you want,Hydro Pumpwill do, getting a few extra OHKOs and 2HKOs.Rapid Spinis why it’s here, and supports your team by Spinning away any hazards that punish your Pokemon whenever it switches out.Ice Beamhits all the Dragons in OU for super-effective damage plus hits the occasional Grass type (besides Ferro) that pops up every now and then. In the last slot,Thunderboltforms the BoltBeam combo and hits bulky water types, such as Jellicent, which is one Spin blocker who is a victim of Starmie.Psyshockis also a great option, as it is STAB, and defeats Blissey.

Forretress @ LeftoversTrait: Sturdy0 Speed IVsEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDRelaxed Nature~ Rapid Spin~ Spikes~ Volt Switch~ Gyro BallSets up spikes, can also rapid spin them out. YAy :D

Cloyster @ LeftoversTrait: Skill LinkEVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDBold Nature~ Spikes~ Rapid Spin~ Rock Blast~ Toxic SpikesA whole generation ago people used to use this. Now people use Shell Smash Cloyster. This set is outclassed probably.. but wynaut? :3

Blastoise @ leftoversTrait: TorrentEVs: 252 HP/ 4 SpD/ 252 DefNature: relaxed- Rapid Spin- Scald- Dragon Tail- Toxic

Blastoise is generally a fantastic spinner and finds itself on many teams because of its great defenses and useful typing.

Donphan @ leftoversTrait: SturdyEVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 AtkNature: Impish- Rapid Spin- Stealth Rock- Ice Shard- Earthquake

We all have faced Donphan at one time or another, and for good reason. It’s defense earns it a spot on so many teams, and access to stealth rocks just makes it sweeter

Cryogonal @ leftoversTrait: LevitateEVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SpDNature: Calm- Rapid Spin- Ice Beam- Recover- Haze

Cryogonal is quite possibly the best spinner in RU. With access to Recover, and Haze, this thing has the ability to ruin alot of people’s days.

Hitmonchan @ life orbTrait: Iron FistEVs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 SpeNature: Adamant- Rapid Spin- Drain Punch- Mach Punch- ThunderPunch

Hitmonchan is an extremely interesting spinner. While not as good as hitmontop, Hitmonchan can fill the role of a sweeper, and a spinner.

Hitmontop @ leftoversTrait: IntimidateEVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpeNature: Impish- Rapid Spin- Foresight/Toxic- Sucker Punch- Close Combat

Ah, hitmonchan’s much more capable brother. do not underestimate its ability to do what it does. it’s great bulk and foresight means those hazards are outta here

Anorith @ EvioliteTrait: Battle ArmorEVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def/ 252 SpeNature: Jolly- Stealth Rock- Rapid Spin- Rock Blast- Brick Break

To be honest, I really do hate Armaldo in NU. It’s just not as good as people say. But anorith is great in LC because of its great defense stat. not much will prevent it from spinning or stealth-rock-setting.

Baltoy @ EvioliteTrait: LevitateEVs: 200 HP/ 200 Def/ 106 SpDNature: Bold- Rapid Spin- Stealth Rock- Earth Power- Toxic

Wow, another one that’s better than it’s evolution. Baltoy is an amazing support Pokemon. enough said. If you wanted, you could also put dual screens on this set.

Here is a good OU rain team spinner.Tentacruel @ Leftovers/Black SludgeTrait: Rain DishEV’s: 252 HP/252 Def/ 4 SpeNature: Timid (+Spe, - Att)Moves:- Rapid Spin- Toxic/Toxic Spikes- Scald- Substitute

This one is pretty self-explanatory. In the rain it will be healing back 1/8 of its health per turn. It is immune to Toxic, absorbs Toxic Spikes just by entering the field, and can use Rain-boosted Scald (and maybe even hope for Burn, if it doesn’t want the opponent poisoned). Substitute goes in the last slot, because with how much it will be healing per turn it will barely notice the 1/4 HP needed to create a sub. All-in-all a very good rain-based spinner.
