A new and more original take on the Sun sweeper set.
Lilligant @ Life Orb / LeftoversTrait: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeModest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) / Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)- Quiver Dance- Sleep Powder- Giga Drain / Solar Beam- Hidden Power (Fire) / (Ice) / (Ground)
This is not the normal Chlorophyll sweeping Lilligant. This is much more fun one. In case you don’t know, Leaf Guard makes the user immune to all status ailments (bar the self-inflicted ones, so no Petal Dance or Rest) under the Sun. This makes Lilligant have a better time sweeping as it gets a Quiver Dance up and cannot be stopped by a crippling Thunder Wave or Toxic.
The set is basically straight-forward from there.Quiver Dancecould be considered as one of the best moves in the game on account that it boosts 3 different stats.Sleep Powdercan cripple the opposition and allow Lilli to get more set up time. The 3rd slot is reserved for a STAB grass move, the first of which isGiga Drain, which can pair nicely with Life Orb to balance out the damage loss, orSolarbeamwhich is super powerful under the sun, but turns to crap when it isn’t, so be cautious. Finally, you have a choice between one of threeHidden Powers.Firegets a boost from the Sun and completley nails Ferro and Forry,Icehits Gliscor and Landorus-T, andGrounddecimates Heatran.
Venusaur (M) @ Life OrbTrait: ChlorophyllEVs: 76 HP / 252 SAtk / 180 SpdTimid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
Trait: Solar PowerEVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 SpdTimid Nature
Sunny Day set for NU/RU.Sunny Dayto get the Sun up, which activates Solar Power, making Charizard a specially offensive monster.Fire Blastis a strong STAB further powered by the sun, and almost nothing will like taking one of these to the face.Solar Beamhits the many Ground, Rock, and Water type Pokemon that threaten it and doesn’t take the extra charging turn in the Sun.Air Slashis a secondary STAB and can make the foe flinch in a pinch.
Marking my spot for the following Pokemon:
Will do the fancy stuff everybody does asap, just putting my slot for these guys ;D___
(Darmanitan)(Victini)(Arcanine)___
Darmanitan is just beast.Darmanitan has something no other Fire-type can boast: a base 140 Attack stat, which lets it rip holes into any team, especially if sun is up. Darmanitan’s Sheer Force ability—which boosts any attack with a secondary effect by 30%—is also a great asset.A Choice Band Sheer Force Flare Blitz in the sun is a move that hardly anything can switch into and successfully wall. It has quite a disappointing Speed, I give you that, but apart from that (and it’s amazingly horrible defensive stats) it is just amazing.
Darmanitan @ Choice BandTrait: Sheer ForceEVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HPAdamant Nature
This is the set I always use and I always love.Flare Blitzmay lower it’s bulk, and paired with the SR damage racking up, its quite a pain in the a$$, so make sure you carry a good Rapid Spinner to make its life longer. Anyway it’s an extremely powerful STAB which nothing can switch into without losing a sizeable chunk of it’s HP.Earthquakewith CB is nothing to be ashamed of. This thing will OHKO everything it’s super effective against and will do a good chunk of damage to anything else which doesn’t resist.Rock Slidepaired with Earthquake gives the nearly unresisted combo EdgeQuake, and is boosted by CB and Sheer Force. LastlySuperpoweris here to hit great neutral damage to stuff, and normally you have to switch after you use it but still, it is a great move for Darma to have.___
Trait: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/ 4 SpANaughty Nature- Power Whip- Growth- Earthquake- Hidden Power [Ice]
Chandelure @ choice scarfTrait: Flash FireEVs: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 SpeNature: Timid- shadow ball- fire blast- solarbeam- trick
What I particularly like about using chandelure is that it makes ferrothorn perfectly viable in the sun, boasting a resist to both weaknesses. You could even run HP ground/ rock to deal damage to fire types. Fire blast becomes a dangerous attack in the sun, and solar beam covers many of the weaknesses.
Sawsbuck @ life orbTrait: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 atk/ 4 SpD/ 252 Spejolly nature- swords dance- retaliate/ return- horn leech- nature power ( earthquake in wi-fi)
In the lower tiers, sawsbuck is fearsome as either a revenge killer with retaliate, or a regular sweeper with return. It is not easily worn down either, as horn leech will recover its health.
Victreebel @ life orbTrait: chlorophyllEVs: 252 SpA/ 4 SpD/ 252 SpeNature: timid- growth- solarbeam- weather ball- Sludge bomb
While very similar to venusaur, the nice thing about victreebel is it can be used from nu to ubers. Almost all sun teams in lower tiers run victreebel, as after one growth it can plow through teams with near perfect coverage.
As much as I hate sun, I see no harm in answering and making my precious rain seem like a laughing matter :'(

Trait: Solid RockEVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 SpDAdamant Nature
Before officially declaring me a mad man, I would firstly want to state that Rhyperior is an excellent sun abuser. With it’s Water weakness diminished by 75 good percents, it will be able to tank many if not all water type moves aimed at it in sun. Being able to even tank a Hydro Pump from the now often seen Scarf Keldeo whiles threatening many water types with a 1OHKO-2HKO.Thunder Punchis what sadly cuts the life span of many of my beloved water types ridiculously short and that is all to thank to it’s base 140 Attack stat. In an offensive Trick Room sun team….Rhyperior will be able to relatively kill every Water type.Earthquake, oh the omnipresent Earthquake that ends so many lives….Yeah it is basically just a nice STAB to do some extra damage to Water types that are immune or that take neutrality from Thunder Punch.Rock blastis in a way equally reliable to Stone Edge but unlike it it has more chance of doing more damage at a more reliable pace of time. Another STAB that can be used to take out Gyarados and or other Pokemon of different types such as Bug and Flying. Now to the move that actually abuses sun,Fire Punchis extremely powerful in sun and will nearly guarantee a full OHKO on every grass, bug and 2HKO almost any Steel type(with some exceptions), though they are most likely KOd by Earthquake anyways c:
Trait: IntimidateEVs: 224 HP/196 Def/88 SpAtkRelaxed Nature
Ok, you just had to see this one coming :P Salamence is often used as Sun offense blahblah but Sun Defense is equally interesting as well as powerful as it enables you to survive to survive a choice banded Ice Shard from an Adamant 252 EV investment in attack Mamoswine. In sun Salamence takes nothing from water type attacks and can form a large problem for many water types. Again, there is no such thing as not teaching a Pokemon Earthquake that makes full use of it. Though it has no investment in attack whatsoever, it still threatens to 2HKO Heatran and what is a Salamence without any form of offense :PRoostjust roosting of damage here and a little there. Great move that enables Salamence to tank hits more often.Draco Meteoris a dragons best friend. Just something to help get passed Pokemon that are frailer on the Specially Defensive side as well as enabling it to make the life of it’s fellow dragons just a little more bitter=no safe switch in c:Fire Blastis that one move that finally takes advantage of the sun seeing as there aren’t many Pokemon that still have a smiling face after getting hit by a sun boosted Fire Blast. Also helps melting some annoying Pokemon such as Scizor and Ferrothorn
Castform @ Expert Belt/Heat RockTrait: ForecastNature: Modest (+Sp. Attack, - Attack)EV’s: 252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed/4 HPMoves:- Sunny Day (I assume you aren’t going to use him in OU!)- Weather Ball/Flamethrower- Solar Beam- Ice Beam/Hidden Power Rock
OK, yes I know that everyone says Castform is gimmicky, etc., etc. But he can still do quite a good job.The Expert Belt is preferred (I think) to the Life Orb, because Castform doesn’t really have the bulk to take the recoil damage. With his large amount of coverage he can often use something super-effective anyway. The Heat Rock could be used instead to increase the longevity of his Sunny Day.As for his moves. Sunny Day is there, because I assume no-one uses him in OU, and there are no Drought users in the lower tiers. Weather Ball is a little more powerful than Flamethrower when the sun is up, and has the advantage of using someone else’s weather effects (Rain, Sandstorm, Hail) to their advantage. Flamethrower is a little more reliable, as it can be used if Castform can’t afford to get up any weather, whereas Weather Ball is useless if their is no weather in effect. Solar Beam has no charge turn in the sun. The last move depends on which your party needs more. Ice Beam will deal with Grass types like Vileplume, that will try to switch in to make use of Sunny Day (however, Flamethrower/Weather Ball is probably better against them). Therefore I think HP Rock is the best option, as it will hit any Fire types that try to switch in to capitalise on the weather a lot harder. It also has the up side of hitting Charizard for 4x damage.
Here you go,
Charizard (M) @ Charizardite YAbility: Blaze —-> DroughtNature: Modest (+Sp.Atk -Attack) or Timid (+Speed -Attack)EV’s: Sp. Atk and SpeedRole: Sun Sweeper/Supporter
Hope this helps you in the Future :)
