It includes bug fixes and gameplay improvements. You need the update to access the online parts of the game so that there aren’t any problems with different game mechanics in two different versions in the game. Say there was a bug with a move in version 1 that was fixed in version 2. If a player with version 1 fights a player with version 2, and one of them uses the bugged move, issues may arise with the game.
