What DS games have Squirtle as the starter?

Hello, I am getting back into Pokemon. I am playing on a Nintendo DSi and I am wanting to use Squirtle as a starter Pokemon, so what game should I buy?

None of the DS Pokemon games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2) allow you to choose Squirtle as yourstarter. However, in HeartGold and SoulSilver, Professor Oak will allow you to choose one of the Kanto starters after you’ve defeated Red on top of Mt. Silver, however that is very late in the game and is considered to be one of the hardest battles in any Pokemon game. That’s the only way to obtain Squirtle legitimately using only the DS generation Pokemon games. There’s also no way to obtain a Squirtle as soon as you start the game, unless you have two systems and another game with a Squirtle, which you can trade to the other game you want the Squirtle on after you progress a little bit.Source

You can’t choose Squirtle as a starter in any of the DS games. In HeartGold and SoulSilver you can go to oak after beating red and get one of the gen 1 starters which includes Squirtle but this is super late in the game, and at that point it isn’t worth it. If you want to play a game with the water turtle you can buy FireRed and LeafGreen I’m pretty sure you can play GBA games on DS not sure about the dsi. So I say get the gen 1 games, Which you would need to get a new console(3Ds or OG Gameboy) if you wanted to do that or get FireRed and LeafGreen which as stated are GBA games but I think you can play those on DS, Or you can just deal with the fact you can’t get Squirtle and just buy whatever DS Pokémon game that looks the coolest to you, I recommend the third option.

If you got fire red, red, blue, leaf green, you could get Squirtle as your starter. But I don’t think you can get it on DS.
