Fomantis is generally outclassed by offensive Grass types like Grookey and defensive ones like Foongus. Though Fomantis is the best substitute for the nonexistent Snivy, it is still a bad choice. This set is best used on a sun team in conjunction with Vulpix.

Leaf Storm is the only way to meaningfully take advantage of Contrary and is Fomantis' strongest STAB. The only other non-Grass special move it gets is Weather Ball, so as stated, you should use this on a weather team (ideally Vulpix sun, but the truly deranged may opt for Hippopotas sand or even Snover hail). Synthesis is Fomantis' most reliable recovery and is further boosted in the sun; alternatively, Aromatherapy makes it harder for Frillish to break through your sun team. Defog alleviates pressure on your Fire teammates and makes it easier for Vulpix to come in repeatedly.
