Foongus is one of the best counters to Grookey LC has to offer. It’s also able to deal with Fairy-types as well as Fighting-types such as Spritzee and Mienfoo. This is a physically defense oriented set. Spore is for inflicting sleep-status, and is extremely useful. Giga Drain deals damage while healing HP. Sludge Bomb is for OHKOing Grookey, while 2HKOing Eviolite sets. Paired with Eviolite and Regenerator, Foongus is a great pivot. Synthesis for more reliable switching.
It can tank hits from Wood Hammer, Drain Punch as well as Knock off and U-Turn with pretty much ease, thereby establishing itself as one of the best counters for Grookey.
While Acrobatics surely 2HKOes, it’s not common on ladder (less than 9% of Grookey sets carry that). Beware Vullaby, since it’s Overcoat allows it to not be affected by Spore. It can freely setup Nasty Plot and deal huge damage to you, so Pawniard is a nice partner. It takes care of Psychic types like Abra which are problematic for Foongus.

Clear Smog is STAB and resets the opponent’s stats, which is good for stopping set ups. Sludge Bomb is for more power and Poison chance. Giga Drain is Grass STAB that provides healing, Energy Ball for more power output. Toxic is good and pairs nice with Lefties. Pollen Puff for Grass and Psychic types that could be a threat to your team such as Grookey, Abra, and Superpower Inkays!
