Baltoy isn’t commonly used, most people over look him, so here’s my set.__Baltoy@EvioliteAbility:LevitateEVs:44HP /212Def /252SpDBoldNature-Stealth Rock-Toxic-Power Split-Rest/Sandstorm
Baltoy is a fan favorite of mine.
Stealth Rockis your hazards, deals damage on switching in, (I use this as a Lead) and can do some major work going around.
Toxicis a pretty common move on Eviolite users, but it’s how he does damage, both attacking stats are beyond pitiful.
Power Splitwill screw up anything that comes at you due to Baltoy’s horrible attacking stats.
WhileRestcan give you some HP back and further stall Toxic, orSandstormcan give you more damage slowly eating at your opponent.
So, Baltoy proves, " not commonly used " doesn’t mean " not good "
Gen 8 BDSP RUClaydol @ Leftovers / Kasib BerryAbility: LevitateEVs: 44 HP / 252 SpA / 212 SpeModest NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Nasty Plot- Earth Power- Psychic / Shadow Ball- Rapid Spin
Claydol is used as a Rapid Spinner while running an offensive Nasty Plot set in BDSP RU. Nasty Plot boosts your special attack to make your attacks more threatening. Earth Power is ground STAB that targets Pokemon like Aggron and Steelix. Psychic is used for psychic STAB. Shadow Ball can be used instead to hit Pokemon like Rotom, Xatu, and opposing Claydol. Rapid Spin is used to clear away entry hazards and can be used to gain a speed boost.
Leftovers is used for a little HP recovery. Kasib Berry is used if you run Shadow Ball instead of Psychic so you can throw Rotom off guard. 212 Speed EVs allow you to outspeed Raichu after a +1 speed boost from Rapid Spin.
Role: Set up and go boom
Claydol @ Light ClayAbility: LevitateEVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Def / 8 SpDAdamant Nature- Light Screen- Reflect- Explosion- Earthquake
Set up, And Explode.
Earthquake for Taunters and Steel- and Rock-types that resist Explosion.
I am too much of a stalling mastermind:
Claydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDCalm Nature- Cosmic Power- Toxic- Sandstorm- Stealth Rock
Cosmic Power- Boosts both defenses, perfect for taking tons of hits after setting upToxic- Because it’s toxicSandstorm- Deals even more damageStealth Rock- More hazards set
This set helps with staying in long and wiping out many different kinds of Pokemon with tons of crippling and damage dealing moves. Set up Cosmic Power to raise both defenses. Then you can start with either Toxic/Sandstorm, and then next move set up the other. Then proceed to work with Stealth Rock. Claydol should be able to take most hits because of it’s boosted defenses due to Cosmic Power.
Screen Setter set:
Claydol @ Sitrus BerryAbility: LevitateEVs 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDBold Nature- Light Screen- Reflect- Stealth Rock- Explosion
Light Screen- For a special defense screenReflect- For a physical defense screenStealth Rock- After screens are set up, get as many Stealth Rocks as you canExplosion- For the final good -bye
This is a great lead Pokemon set. Depending on the opponents Pokemon, you can choose to set Light Screen or Reflect, then the other screen. Then you can proceed with Stealth Rock up until you can’t take anymore moves. Afterwards you blow up right in the foes face for some nice damage.
Finally we have the sweeping Claydol. This set is best used with a Trick Room partner. I suggest Dusknoir, myself:
Claydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpAModest Nature- Calm Mind- Earth Power- Psychic- Shadow Ball
Calm Mind- while defenses are boosted with EVs, you can take most physical hits an then you start setting up for sweeping with special attack and special defense.Earth Power- Strong power, STAB, has chance of lowering special defensePsychic- more strong STAB, again has chance of lowering special defenseShadow Ball- Great coverage, can lower special defense as well, used to deal with Psychics and other Ghost-types.
Claydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDIVs: 0 SpeRelaxed Nature- Trick Room- Rapid Spin- Earth Power- Ice Beam / Stealth Rock
Trick Room supports teammates with Trick Room and Claydol itself of course.Rapid Spin clears away thosepeskyhazards, ugh!Earth Power is nice STAB and hitting Pokemon like Steelix hard.Ice Beam hits flying types for some nice damage, while Stealth Rocks can be used to support the team with that.
Claydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 56 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpDBrave Nature- Rapid Spin- Trick Room- Stealth Rock- Explosion
So this Claydol is just supposed to spin the hazards away while putting its own rocks up. (I have a Sashed Azelf and an Articuno, so rocks destroy it). Then throw up a Trick Room and Explode in their face. Genius, right? Only problem is, you gotta watch out for Ghost types, so it’s a good idea to have a Dark type in your team.
Claydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpDImpish Nature- Stealth Rock- Rapid Spin- Body Press- Explosion
Set up rocks on the enemy’s side, and get rid of rocks on your side. Body Press makes use of its high defense and Impish Nature. Explosion when your job is done. Do note that it gets completely walled by Ghost types so it’s usually best to just Explode on them after spinning to safely bring in another Pokemon.
Gen 8 NUClaydol @ LeftoversAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpDCalm NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Stealth Rock- Scorching Sands- Rapid Spin- Teleport
Set up Stealth Rock on the opposing side. Rapid Spin is to clear up any entry hazards on your side. Scorching Sands is STAB and has the chance to inflict a burn which can cripple physical sweepers/wallbreakers. Teleport is for pivoting.
Gen 8 PUClaydol @ Weakness PolicyAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 HP / 120 SpA / 136 SpeModest NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Cosmic Power- Rock Polish- Stored Power- Earth Power
This set is to be used under dual screens. Cosmic Power raises both defenses. Rock Polish is to boost your speed. Stored Power is STAB and gets powerful as you raise your stats. Earth Power is also STAB.
Claydol is underrated, its one of my favroiute Pokemon, its a shame its now outclassed but this moveset will make it viable.
Gen 8 NU
