I can’t believe no-one made a set making use of his event moves.Flare-blitzis powerfulSTAByou can heal off the damage gradually withLeftoversor go suicide withLife-orb.Exreme-speedis powerfulprioritywhich is definitely need considering him needing to have Adamant nature.Stone-edgeiscoverage.Iron-headiscoverage.
NU is no more.
Entei @ Choice BandAbility: Inner FocusEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature
Sacred Fire is one heck of a STAB move, dealing massive damage and having a 50% chance of burning the target (yes, that is even higher than the dreaded Scald and Lava Plume), so common physically offensive switch-ins like Flygon and Tyrantrum will be crippled and in general its a great move for busting up walls like Vaporeon and Dragalge with burn’s additional chip damage. Extreme Speed revenge-kills faster threats and Choice Scarf users. Stomping Tantrum covers Diancie and Tyrantrum and consistently gets rid of Salazzle. Stone Edge is a shaky but powerful coverage option that impales Aerodactyl, Arcanine, Araquanid, and Talonflame.
Guys, this is big.
Entei has received SACRED FIRE in X and Y. Entei is back. And he will claim his throne.
Set: Bye Arcanine, Hi Entei.Entei @ Life Orb/Choice BandAbility:PressureEVs:4HP/252Attack/252SpeedAdamant Nature (+Att,-SpAtt)-SACRED FIRE-Extremespeed-Stone Edge-Iron Head/Bulldoze
Have you heard of Sacred Fire? We are talking about a 100BP, 95% ACC, FIRE TYPE PHYSICAL DESTRUCTION WITH A 50% BURN CHANCE HERE. For that reason alone, Entei will surely move up to UU or even OU. Extremespeed is to knock that last sliver of health from opponents, while Stone Edge and Iron Head is coverage. Bulldoze is mainly to get the 2HKO on Heatran, but offers little else.
This thing is really good. It’s great as a sweeper and has great stats. There nothing else it needs, but to add some extra spice, we are using aWeakness Policy Entei.
Entei @ Weakness PolicyNature: NaiveEVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Sp. AtkAbility: Pressure
Flame Charge is for boosting Speed and part of the setting up. Sacred Fire is pretty good STAB and has a 50% chance of burning the opponent. Stone Edge is for mainly power and semi-coverage, but Extreme Speed is for priority. Hidden Power Grass is to cover all weaknesses and it will be more effective after a +2 in Special Attack (and attack) from Weakness Policy, but Iron Head is for Ice, Fairy, and Rock types.
With Entei now being in Gen 8 NU, there’s this set that has been passed around apparently. It’s called VinTei. So, here it is:
Gen 8 NU
Entei @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 132 HP / 252 Def / 100 SpD / 24 SpeBold NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Substitute- Calm Mind- Protect- Lava Plume
252 Defense EVs is to help with Entei taking physical attacks. 24 Speed EVs allow you to outspeed max speed Adamant Tyrantrum. 100 Special Defense EVs allow you to take some special attacks. The rest of the EVs go to HP. The ability Pressure is so you can pretty much PP stall a Pokemon.
Substitute allows you to scout Pokemon attacks, protect yourself from status, and to set up Calm Mind. Calm Mind boosts your special attack and special defense. Protect is to allow you to get a free turn of Leftovers recovery, and works well with the ability Pressure. Lava Plume is STAB that has a 30% chance to burn, meaning it can cripple physical sweepers and wallbreakers.
Entei appreciates a Pokemon that can deal with rock types. Flygon can do that, as it resists rock type moves. Flygon’s ability Levitate also helps with Entei’s ground weakness. Flygon can also serve as a Defogger to help clear Stealth Rock which helps out Entei. Vaporean can easily switch into water type moves, allowing it to absorb water moves with its ability Water Absorb. Vaporeon can also provide Heal Bell support that helps out Entei should it be statused. It can also wish pass to help Entei stay healthy.
Entei@Assault VestAbility:Inner FocusAdamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Def / 4 SpD / 20 Spe-Sacred Fire-Extreme Speed-Stone Edge-Stomping Tantrum
Inner Focus (ability) is key for this doubles build because it ignores both the all-presentFake Outas well asIntimidate. Sacred Fire is chosen instead ofFlare Blitzin order to make this bulky Entei last longer (Flare Blitz incurs substantial recoil), as well as to threaten physical attackers withburn(50% chance with Sacred Fire) without sacrificing damage output (unlike withWill-O-Wisp). Extreme Speed’s main benefit is that it has priority over Sucker Punch, namely when an opposing Sucker Punch is aimed at an ally weak to it. Stone Edge and Stomping Tantrum are both for coverage. Finally, that fact that Stomping Tantrum doubles in power if the user’s most recent attack missed compensates quite nicely for Stone Edge’s inaccuracy (80% accurate).
This build counters the 5 of the most common VGC pivots:Incineroar,Rillaboom,Thundurus,Tornadus, andCelesteela. It can also survive at least one hit from both maxed-AtkZacianas well as maxed-AtkLandorus. Moreover, it offers sustained (and optionally prioritized) damage output to help your primary dynamaxed attacker close out KOs without the risk of being Faked Out or Intimidated.
