Trick room sledgehammer:Escavalier @ Choice BandAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDBrave NatureIVs: 0 Spe- Megahorn- Iron Head- Return / Double Edge- Pursuit / X-Scissor
Escavalier is tied with ferrothorn as the slowest fully evolved Pokemon. However, with the help of a trick room using teammate, Escavalier can become the “fastest” Pokemon around. It’s massive base 135 attack, further boosted by a choice band, will allow to rip through unprepared teams with its mighty Megahorn. He can also easily slay dark types that give some trick room teams trouble.
Escavalier (M) @ LeftoversAbility: OvercoatEVs: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpDImpish Nature- Swords Dance- X-Scissor- Iron Head- Reversal
Gen 8 SS NUEscavalier @ LeftoversAbility: Shell ArmorEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpeCareful Nature- Swords Dance / Iron Head- Megahorn / Knock Off- Rest- Sleep Talk
Swords Dance RestTalk Escavalier was a set used in Gen 6 RU that is currently being used in SS NU to take advantage of teams lacking a Fire-type Pokemon/Pokemon with a Fire-type move or a strong wallbreaker that can get past Escavalier’s bulk.
How the moveset works is honestly self-explanatory. Use Swords Dance to raise your attack when your facing a Pokemon who you force to switch out, such as Dragalge and non Choice Specs Sylveon. Megahorn is chosen as the STAB move that has a BP of 120. Rest is used when Escavalier is at low HP or it is crippled by a status condition known as a burn. Sleep Talk is used to let Escavalier do something while it is asleep if Sleep Talk doesn’t land on Rest. Iron Head and Knock Off can be used over Swords Dance and Megahorn should you want a Steel STAB and a move that makes some sort of progress in games.
252 HP, 252 Special Defense EVs, and a Careful Nature is used to maximize Escavalier’s special bulk. The 4 Speed EVs is used just to outspeed opposing Escavalier that run 0 Speed EVs.
Karrablast @ Salac BerryAbility: No GuardEVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpeAdamant Nature-Endure-Megahorn-Flail-Feint Attack
For some reason this guy looks to cool to me, I do not know what it is, maybe it was the sweep I did with it during the CC tourney (Different set though) but this guy looks so cool and crazy!Endureis to ActivateSalac-berryand power upFlail.Megahornis strongSTABand because of No-guard has perfect acc.Flailis neutralcoverageand becomes super strong at low health.Faint-attackand is mainly there to cover ghost types who would otherwise wall him and is also pretty much his only other decent Physical Attack that is not the same type (or type coverage) as another one of his moves. Hope you enjoy using this guy :)
(Gen 6)
Assault Vest Attacker:Escavalier @ Assault VestAbility: OvercoatEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDBrave NatureIVs: 0 Spe- Megahorn- Iron Head- Drill Run- Knock Off / Pursuit
X and Y gave Escavalier a few new twerks that up its viability. Drill run, Knock Off, Assault Vest, and Overcoat.Karrablast can now learn drill run via breeding, which gives Escavalier a new powerful coverage move capable of obliterating fire and steel types that try to switch into his bug and steel STABs.Megahorn is Escavalier’s main and most powerful STAB move, dealing painful damage to anything that doesn’t resist it.Iron head is his most powerful steel-type STAB (shame it can’t learn gyro ball), useful against fairies. And the buff given to knock off make it a very powerful option, dealing heavy damage and ridding the opponent of their item. However, pursuit is also a viable option, ensuring an OHKO against weakened Gengar and Alakazam.
Although choice band is still viable on Escavalier, Assault vest transforms Escavalier into a powerful special wall, which I have found to be more effective. Overcoat is also quite useful on Escavalier, and would choose it over Swarm. In gen 5, Overcoat only protected Escavalier from hail, but now in gen 6 it protects him from sleep powder and spore, and more rarely stun spore.
The choice of IV’s, EV’s and nature is to ensure it is slower than brave/quiet Aegislash, and to be extremely fast if you or the opponent ends up using trick room.
This one has worked amazing on my trick room team, destroying all the people who use their popular Pokémon.
Escavalier @ Occa Berry / Life OrbAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 DefAdamant Nature• Fell Stinger• Iron Head• Drill Run• Megahorn
Iron head and Megahorn are STAB, drill run covers fire, and fell stinger can get a huge attack boost from killing them. It’s best to bring him in on a low opponent to do just that. After you get a fell stinger boost, you could dynamax and sweep.
With those defensive stats I see Escavalier as a great Staller.
Escavalier @ Chesto BerryAbility: OvercoatEVs: 252 Def / 252 SpDCareful Nature / Impish Nature- Toxic- Rest- Double Team- Iron Head
If I have A Escavalier This will be my Set:
Escavalier @ Life Orb / LeftoversAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 HP / 48 Atk / 210 SpDAdamant Nature- Toxic- Knock Off- Iron Head- Megahorn
Escavalier @ LeftoversAbility: OvercoatEVs: 252 Atk / 128 Def / 128 SpDAdamant Nature- Megahorn- Iron Head- Knock Off- Protect
Role: Physical Tank
Escavalier @ LeftoversAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 DefAdamant Nature- Iron Head / Smart Strike- Megahorn / X-Scissor- Razor Shell- Fell Stinger / Swords Dance
Iron HeadorSmart Strike: STAB, flinch chance or a guaranteed hit.MegahornorX-Scissor: Main STAB, either high power or great accuracy.Razor Shell: Covers Fire Weakness, and chance to low opponents Defense.Fell StingerorSwords Dance: Fell Stinger raises the users Attack by 3 stages, if the Opponent was knocked out with that attack. Swords Dance Increases the users Attack by 2 stages.
Escavalier @ Choice BandAbility: Shell ArmorEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDAdamant Nature- Iron Head- Razor Shell- Poison Jab- Swords Dance
Iron Head (STAB)Razor Shell (To deal with Fire types)Swords Dance (Set up this move and then sweep)
Start out by using Swords Dance to set up you Attack and then start sweeping. Use Razor Shell in case you run into any fire types.
Gen 8 NUEscavalier @ LeftoversAbility: OvercoatEVs: 252 HP / 172 SpD / 84 SpeCareful Nature- Iron Head- Knock Off- Toxic- Protect
A defensive Escavalier set. Iron Head is STAB. Knock Off is to remove the opponent’s item. Toxic to wear down the opponent’s HP. Protect is for stalling. 252 HP EVs helps out with Escavalier being able to take more hits. 84 Speed EVs allow Escavilier to outspeed a few slow Pokémon. The rest of the EVs are for Special Defense.
Gen 8 NUEscavalier @ LeftoversAbility: Shell ArmorEVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpDCareful Nature- Swords Dance- Megahorn- Knock Off- Protect
Specially Defensive Swords Dance set. This set is for taking special hits while being able to hit hard with boosted attacks. Swords Dance is for boosting your attack. Megahorn is strong STAB that can muscle past Pokemon like Vaporeon and Starmie. Knock Off is useful for getting rid of items from opposing Pokemon and can be used on incoming fire types. Protect is for scouting and also gives you a free turn of Leftovers recovery.
TeammatesEscavalier struggles against fire types, so fire type checks such as Vaporeon, Diancie, and Flygon are appreciated. Vaporeon can freely switch into Scalds that are aimed at Escavalier in hopes of burning it. It can also use Toxic to poison bulky waters such as Mantine if you have another Heal Bell user (an example is provided soon) on your team, in addition to wishpassing to keep Escavalier healthy. Diancie can be used as a Heal Bell user if you want to use Vaporeon and Diancie on the same team as Escavalier. Flygon is useful for taking out fire types and Copperajah. Rotom-C is useful for dealing with bulky waters, especially Mantine.
Escavalier (M) @ Assault VestAbility: Shell ArmorEVs: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpDCareful Nature- Iron Head- Megahorn/ Fell Stinger- Drill Run- Knock Off
This guy is supposed to be hard to kill. With max defense and max special defense, you can do just that, and with an Assault Vest, no special attacking fire type will be OHKO’ing us any time soon. I thought that this guy got gyro ball, but I guess that that is just wishful thinking, so I went withIron head, good ol' reliable but he’s too slow to get the flinch chance unless you are using a trick room team or are using him as a trick room counter.Mega Hornis for STAB, or you could go withFell Stingerfor a crazy attack bonus.Drill Runis for Fire Types, AndKnock Offis coverage and will cripple Pokemon dependent on their items.
Edit: Also I would like to mention that this is for my doubles monotype bug team and if you want to make him pretty much unkillable, useWater Bubble AraquanidwithEntrainmentandRain Danceso that fire is only neutral. Sure he would lose the ability to not get crit but I think it’s worth it. And get a Pokemon who can support Him since he has no healing moves besidesGiga Drain, but who is going to use that on a physical attacker with a -S. Atk nature, and even if he did have good healing, we are using Assault Vest. I think thatPollen Puff Ribombeeis a good choice personally, but it’s up to you.
Bro dies from Charcoal, Rip Bozo.
CharizardIs yourBiggest EnemyBecause of It’s Crippling4x Fire Weakness, It’s also pretty slow so It can’t really outspeed anything and kill because ofArcanine,But It’s defense and great typing makes up for It.
Escavalier @ Focus SashAbility: Overcoat / SwarmEVs: 252 Atk / 244 Def / 8 SpD- Close Combat- Drill Run- Fell Stinger- Flail
Overcoat: To protect yourself from Powder moves or damage by Hail.Swarm: To boost the STAB Fell stinger that could turn Into a 90 power move (I don’t know actually)Adamant Nature
