Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 4 AtkNature: Careful-Bulk Up-Leaf Blade / Horn Leech-Earthquake-Milk Drink / Rock Slide
Sap Sipper is a bit useless for a Grass type now, because none of the spore moves work on them anymore, so you don’t get a free boost with Sleep Powder etc. It’s already immune to Leech Seed as well. But then again, Grass Pelt is more useless competitively. I know that Florges learns Grassy Terrain, but it’s still useless in light of Sap Sipper at least giving you an immunity.
I think Gogoat has a decent movepool, at least it gets access to EdgeQuake combo. Well, Rock Slide instead of Stone Edge, but the effect is the same. However, it’s a shame that it’s a pure Grass type, meaning it can’t successfully tank without a few Bulk Ups because of its many weaknesses. Horn Leech is probably better for Gogoat, since it serves the purpose of both Leaf Blade & Milk Drink.
I had a lot of sets prepared for this guy :P
He’s got a really nice base Attack, which makes me think we can run a BulkyBand set.
Gogoat @ Choice BandAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 SpDAdamant Nature- Earthquake- Horn Leech / Leaf Blade- Wild Charge- Payback
Wild Charge hits Flying types, Earthquake hits Fire types, Payback is good as we aren’t running speed and many sweepers can outspeed him. Horn Leech is nice for recovery and STAB, while Leaf Blade is more powerful. Personal preference really.
Gogoat @ Grassy SeedAbility: Grass PeltNature: AdamantEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD• Horn Leech• Bulk Up• Milk Drink• Rock Slide
Grassy Seed and Grass Pelt make his defense crazy in Grassy Terrain. Horn Leech is for STAB and recovery, Milk Drink is for recovery, Bulk Up is for better Attack and even greater Defense, and Rock Slide is coverage against Gogoat’s Bug, Flying, Fire, and Ice weaknesses.
Gogoat @ Leftovers:Trait: Grass PeltEV: 252 HP / 128 Sp.Atk / 128 Sp.DefHardy Nature
I have no ideas about the nature. Frankly, that thing needs all of his stats so I cannot raise one and lower one. So I went for a neutral natures.Bulk Upraises its frail defense and decent attack and when used twice, you are sure you won’t be easily KOed.Horn Leechis a recovery STAB, whileLeaf Bladefor the power. I would personally go Horn Leech for ensuring longevity.Surfis a bizarre choice, but it provides nice coverage against Fire and uses Gogoat’s all decent special attack.Earthquakeis Earthquake. You know! That 100 Power / 100 Accuracy powerful and relentless Ground move. Now, you know ?
Well after using this guy in-game, I must say he’s pretty awesome. As fondant already mentioned his Sap Sipper ability did experience an unfortunate nerf, but it’s still better (imo) than his other ability.
He’s got some really good HP and not too shabby SDef so this is one possible set to try out.
Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 SpD / 248 HP / 8 SpdCareful Nature- Toxic- Milk Drink / Protect- Leech Seed- Horn Leech / Leaf Blade
Toxic + Leech Seed + Milk Drink = Ultimate survivability. Unfortunately, being a Grass type, he has lots of weaknesses. If you decide to run Horn Leech, I would say go for Protect > Milk Drink. If you go for Leaf Blade, then go with Milk Drink. Just one possible, though unlikely, set we can see him using.
So basically, he’s a cross between Sawsbuck, Bouffalant, and Miltank?commented 10 minutes ago by Poke’slash
Role: Mixed Sweeper
Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEV Spread: 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 HP (or 4 Spd)Nature: Brave-Sunny Day / Horn Leech-Growth-Earthquake-Solar Beam
First, set up Sunny Day. Then go for one to two Growths that give you +2Atk and +2SpAtk in the sun. Then use Earthquake and Solar Beam to own everything.
Alternatively, you could bring in something else that knows Sunny Day or has the ability Drought, and replace the Sunny Day on Gogoat with Horn Leech to get some HP back.
Here’s the moveset I used:
Gogoat @ Big RootAbility: Sap SipperAdamant NatureEVs 252 Atk / 126 HP / 126 Def / 4 SpD
Rock Slide
With Big Root, Horn Leech & Leech Seed should help you survive with additional STAB and the other two cover all your weaknesses :D
Gogoat @ Big Root / LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 Atk / 240 HP / 16SNature: Adamant
Leaf Blade is its best move and is good STAB. Earthquake covers Gogoat’s Fire weakness and is a solid move. The third slot is to cover the Flying weakness, either Rock Slide or Wild Charge, and the fourth slot is personal preference, if you want recovery or to be able to set up a couple of Bulk Ups.
With Gogoat’s high Attack and HP stats, this seems like it would work out well:
Gogoat @ Shell Bell / Leftovers / Big RootAbility: Sap Sipper (or Grass Pelt if running doubles with Grassy Terrain)EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpAAdamant Nature
-Leaf Blade (good STAB move)-Milk Drink / Horn Leech (recover more HP or recover some and damage opponent)-Earthquake (coverage, plus its Earthquake)-Rock Slide (combined with Earthquake gives full coverage, plus it’s good in double battles)
Could replace Rock Slide with Bulk Up to boost Attack and Defense, or Synthesis with a Grassy Terrain support as well, but I find that the extra coverage against Flying and Fire works well, especially in double battles.
i call this one the barbarian goat \m/ -_- \m/
Role: BIG FAT KILLER !!!Gogoat @ LeftoversEVs: 252 ATK / 252 HP / 4 whatever you want cause it doesn’t make a difference to the stat at this point cause… well its only 4 EVs.Lonely NatureAbility: Sap Sipper
HORN LEECH: Because a true barbarian just charges head first into the enemy, stands on the corpse, and lets loose an invigorating scream just to feel better!!!AERIAL ACE: A barbarian thinks about 3 things in life: women, food, and most importantly, what is the best weapon to use in each situation. Common human beings call it coverage.ROCK SLIDE: True barbarians make the wall crumble and the roof fall with just the pure awesomeness of their existence!!!EARTHQUAKE: Earthquake is just way above everything in existence… yes, even barbarians.
This guy has lots of HP but taking a whole turn to set up will get him beat up really hard from any super effective physical hit, because of its poor Defense stat (and god knows that the things who got lots of Attack stat are RARELY using Fire, Ice, or Bug type moves). What’s more, the only reliable Defense stat booster he’s got is Bulk Up, which boosts both its Attack and Defense stats, but only by one stage each, wiech make it basically pointless, because it would need two turns to set up to a respectable Defense stat. The opponent will probably be smarter than a frog and destroy you with Flare Blitz or Megahorn or something like that before you could do any damage. With Leftovers to regain a bit of HP every turn, and Horn Leech, which is always good for a Grass type with a high Attack stat, I think this guy’s Schwarzenegger nature is clear.
Soooo for those who didn’t get it… its a pure physical attacking set… seriously even a goat would get it… no offense barbarian goat cause you’re a BADASS BARBARIAN !!!
Role: Fast Bulky Physical Sweeper
Gogoat @ Big Root (For full Recovery)
Nature: Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk.)Ability: Sap Sipper (For Attack boost)EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Spe
Why is this thing so good?!?
Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 DefNature: Adamant-Horn Leech-Earthquake / Rock Slide-Bulk Up-Milk Drink / Substitute
Subseeder
Gogoat @ LeftoversEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpdAbility: Sap SipperImpish Nature
Switch on a Grass type move, and set up with Substitute and Bulk Up. Then regain lost HP with Leech Seed and Horn Leech. Having a Water type in the back is helpful so you can switch in if necessary.
I personally use this set:Bulky Physical Sweeper
Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 DefAdamant Nature
-Earthquake-Horn Leech / Bulk Up-Leaf Blade-Milk Drink
Gen 6:Gogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Sap SipperNature: Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Attack)EVs: 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 HPRole: Physical Sweeper/Staller
Gogoat (M) @ Miracle SeedAbility: Sap SipperEVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HPNature: Jolly (+spe -sp.atk)
-Work Up-Double Team-Synthesis-Horn Leech
All of this to annoy the opponent.
Special GogoatGogoat @ LeftoversAbility: Grass PeltNature: ModestEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Def• Leech Seed• Protect• Giga Drain• Hidden Power [Rock]
Leech Seed + Leftovers is great for healing. Giga Drain is STAB and heals even more. Hidden Power [Rock] covers Gogoat’s Ice, Fire, Flying, AND Bug weaknesses.
Ramos (Gogoat) @ Expert BeltAbility: Sap SipperTera Type: GrassEVs: 184 HP / 252 Atk / 72 SpeAdamant Nature- Horn Leech- Wild Charge- Earthquake- Rock Slide
My Gogoat is named after the Kalos Gym Leader, who uses a Gogoat as his ace. And although he does not copy the moveset in either game, or anime, I did keep the anime’s move that nearly won the battle for Ramos against Ash’s Frogadier. Horn Leech is such a devastating move because it can quite literally define how a battle ends with it’s healing and STAB power alone. Earthquake and Rock Slide are for coverage against his weaknesses. Rock beats Bug, Fire, Flying and Ice. And Earthquake beats Fire and Poison. The final move is my finishing touch to my SV team. I used a Gogoat for my playthrough and had no electric types on it. So I taught Gogoat Wild Charge to cover for that flaw. Adamant Nature paired with Expert Belt is always a good combo, not to mention my EV’s are, while messy, tuned for Atk and HP with a hint of Spe. Tera type is honestly self explanatory. There’s no need for a different Tera on Gogoat. And finally. Sap Sipper, while not as helpful on Gogoat compared to other Pokemon, is better than Grass Pelt because it saves me having to set up Grassy Terrain or fine tuning ANYTHING else. And that there is my Gogoat
