Gen 9 Monotype Choice Scarf (Ground/Steel)Iron Treads @ Choice ScarfAbility: Quark DriveEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Earthquake- Iron Head- Ice Spinner- Volt Switch

A Choice Scarf set for Gen 9 Monotype. Iron Treads' base 106 speed allows it to serve as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf. Earthquake is used for Ground STAB. Iron Head is for Steel STAB that can flinch opposing Pokemon. Ice Spinner is used for coverage against Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Dragapult, Dragonite, Breloom, and Iron Jugulis. Volt Switch is used to chip opposing Pokemon and bring in a teammate.

Gen 9 AG Miraidon CheckIron Treads @ LeftoversAbility: Quark DriveTera Type: GroundEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 AtkJolly NatureIVs: 27 Def- Stealth Rock- Earthquake- Rapid Spin- Knock Off / Iron Head

Iron Treads is a staple in the Gen 9 AG metagame for its utility and ability to check Miraidon. With its unique ground/steel typing, it is immune to Miraidon’s brutal electric STAB attacks, and is also resistant to its dragon moves. The 27 defense IVs put Iron Treads’s speed higher than its defense, allowing it to get a speed boost from Quark Drive. This allows you to outrun non choice-scarf variants of Miraidon, as well as granting the ability to outspeed the other 135 speed threats in the tier (Flutter Mane, Koraidon, and Chien-pao.) Do be wary, however, of Miraidon’s potential to have the move overheat. Iron Treads also has some very useful utility, that being the unique ability to both set and remove hazards, which is especially helpful in a metagame with very few viable hazard removers. With the only relevant flying type in the metagame being the occasional Corviknight, Iron Treads is able to freely spam STAB earthquakes without much worry. While Iron Treads rarely terrastralizes, a ground tera type is selected in the event that you need to unleash even stronger earthquakes. As for the last slot, iron head can be used to defeat Scream Tail, while knock off provides useful utility such as removing Great Tusk’s leftovers which can make it much easier to chip down.

Gen 9 OU strong, bulky, yet speedy, set (for both doubles and singles)Item: Booster EnergyAbility: Quark DriveTera Type: Grass (chose it because it handles Iron Treads’ Water and Ground weaknesses)EVs: 252 Def, 252 Atk, 6 SpeNature: Jolly (lowers SpA, boosts Spe)- Earthquake- Iron Head- Zen Headbutt- Tera Blast

Earthquake and Iron Head are STAB. Zen Headbutt is for coverage.Lastly, Tera Blast is because Iron Treads can’t learn any Grass moves normally.

Gen 9 AG Spinner & Utility Lead

Iron Treads @ Assault VestAbility: Quark DriveTera Type: FlyingEVs: 252 Atk / 48 SpD / 208 SpeJolly Nature- Rapid Spin- Earthquake- Heavy Slam- Knock Off

AV and SpD investment to live hits from Flutter Mane, Miraidon, etc. Works as a lead with Knock Off and Rapid Spin. EQ and Heavy Slam along with Ark investment to not be useless farther into a match, 208 speed & Jolly guarantees outspeeding Chi-Yu and entire unboosted meta under Quark Drive or Rapid Spin boost as well as maximizing Atk. Tera Flying because the only non-Tera slightly-relevant EQ immunity in AG is Corviknight.

Gen 9 OUIron Treads @ Booster EnergyAbility: Quark DriveTera Type: GhostEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Stealth Rock- Earth Power- Rapid Spin- Steel Beam

This is a Hazard Lead for Iron Treads. Booster Energy Iron Treads works great as a hazard lead, especially for Rain, as it has a decent matchup into opposing hazard leads and its typing helps multiple weaknesses for Rain. With its Steel typing, it is immune to Glimmora’s Mortal Spin.Booster Energyallows Treads to outspeed opposing leads like Scarf Samurott-H and Deoxys-S

Stealth Rockis the hazard being set.Earth Powerallows Iron Treads to hit Glimmora leads hard without activating Toxic Debris.Rapid Spinclears hazards from opposing leads.Steel Beamallows Iron Treads to do massive amounts of damage and safety bring in an ally when needed.Tera Ghostis to Spin-Block, although usually won’t be used.

Offensive Life OrbJolly Nature,Tera Type: Ground252 Attack, 6 Sp. Def, 252 Speed.Item: Life Orb

A solid offensive Pokemon that is definitively weaker than its cousin Great Tusk offensively. However, Treads boasts a much higher speed stat and a somewhat better defensive typing, giving it an advantage in certain matchups. With a Life Orb, there is a negligible difference between Great Tusk’s Headlong Rush and Iron Tread’s Earthquake, while its coverage moves all hit harder. So this set focuses on using its speed and coverage to outspeed and KO threats. It’s especially threatening when it has its speed boosted from either Rapid Spin or Quark Drive. Earthquake is an excellent STAB option in general and Ground is an easy type to cover for, so Steel STAB, being mediocre offensively in general, is not needed. Treads already has a favorable matchup against Fairy types even without it. Ice Spinner pairs with Ground STAB to automatically satisfy most of Treads' coverage needs, easily making it 2nd most often used attack on this set. The choice of Stone Edge and Supercell Slam depends on what you to have a better matchup against. They both give you the ability to hit Flying Types harder than Ice Spinner, with the extra coverage being nice if you don’t want to remove Terrain. Stone Edge hits more things supereffectively in general, but Supercell Slam hits notable Pokemon such as Pelipper and the Steel/Flyings hard. It also improves its matchup against Water-types, especially in the presence of Electric Terrain.

Ground Tera type is preferred to give Earthquake the ability to push through targets lategame, while also removing its irksome weakness to Ground. This can make Treads an effective cleaner with its speed boosted by Rapid Spin, which is used in the last slot not only to support itself with the speed boost but to also clear hazards away for its team.
