Ivy (Leafeon) (F) @ Choice ScarfAbility: Leaf Guard / ChlorophyllEVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Def / 124 SpeAdamant Nature- Leaf Blade- Iron Tail- Knock Off- X-Scissor
Leaf Blade is obvious. Iron Tail is your Ice and Fairy Coverage. X-Scissor is Your Psychic and Dark coverage. Knock Off, while predictable, makes Leafeon dangerous to switch into and in general just makes life more difficult by throwing a monkey wrench into play. Scarf Leafeon is awesome. This set is built to be mildly physically bulky as well, taking advantage of its 130 base Defense.
Ivy (Leafeon) (F) @ Life OrbAbility: Leaf Guard / ChlorophyllEVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Leaf Blade- Iron Tail- Knock Off- Swords Dance
Leafeon’s Speed has also been buffed since I posted this, and it makes it now suitable for at least giving this basic set a shot.
Can you say support?
Layla (Leafeon) (F) @ LeftoversTrait: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 DefImpish NatureIVs: 0 SpA- Leaf Blade- Substitute- Synthesis- Heal Bell
I’ll just give a little backstory as to why I made mine be this. My teams always have too many Ground weaknesses or too little resistances. As most Ground moves are physical, I figure this guy is perfect to take EQs with, and with that defense stat he can be a very formidable wall.
Leaf Blade is for STAB, and as it’s the only attacking move, may as well make it a high critical hit-chance one.
Substitute is for possible Haunter switch-ins, so you can still get off a Leaf Blade or Synthesis, depending on which you need more.
Finally Heal Bell for maximum supporting capabilities. Yawn could be used too, but I prefer ridding status off of my sweepers.
Leafeon @ Assault VestAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 81 HP / 211 Def / 216 SpDCareful Nature- Leaf Blade- Knock Off- X-Scissor- Quick Attack
Quick Attack is decent for when you/they have low health. X-Scissor is coverage, and so if Knock Off. EVs are clear and Chlorophyll is because with Vest suns not possible, and it trolls sun teams
Gen VIILeafeon @ Choice Scarf / Choice Band / Life OrbAbility: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Leaf Blade- Knock Off- Synthesis / Protect / Swords Dance- Aerial Ace / X-Scissor
Leaf Blade for STAB and Critical hit ratio increase. Knock Off for Super effectiveness against Alakazam, Gengar (basically Ghost and Psychics). Synthesis for quick healing, Protect for Coverage, Swords Dance for raising attack. Aerial Ace for coverage and accuracy check. X-Scissor is for damage.
This is my new answer, I’ve hope it was better!
Gen 8 ZULeafeon @ Life Orb / Kebia BerryAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 SpeNaughty Nature- Swords Dance- Solar Blade- Knock Off- Weather Ball
Apparently sun is good in ZU at the moment, so here is the set that is used on sun abuser Leafeon: a mixed set. Swords Dance boosts your attack. Solar Blade is strong STAB and doesn’t need to charge in the sun. Knock Off removes items from opposing Pokemon. Weather Ball becomes a fire type move in the sun, allowing you to deal with Tangela, who would pretty much otherwise wall it if Leafeon uses physical attacks on it. For the item, you can use Life Orb for extra damage output, or Kebia Berry so you can survive a super effective Sludge Bomb from Tangela.
Leafeon (M) @ Lum BerryAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 DefAdamant Nature- Leaf Blade- Swords Dance- Synthesis- Sunny Day
I guess this is a sweeper set, but it will only work against a physical attacker. Chlorophyll boosts speed by a lot in the sun, while the sun also powers up how much synthesis heals you. Swords Dance plus Leaf Blade totally destroys. Don’t set up too early though!
Stall your foes into madness with Leafelollz! A toxic staller set that isn’t wrecked by taunt or torment! Toxic is a must. Protect for your Leftovers, Sunny day and Leaf Guard shut down other toxic stallers or para/sleep hacks. Leaf Blade is for raw damage and to not be wrecked by Taunt / Torment.
Double battle moveset
Leafeon @ Choice BandAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 SpeAdamant Nature- Leaf Blade- Aerial Ace- X-Scissor- Dig
Note: Team up with a Pokemon that has Drought or uses Sunny Day to activate Chlorophyll+Very powerful assist sweeper that pretty much will always go first and can take out almost anything in one hit.I use it with Drought Ninetails Drought and back up with a Mega Houndoom ;)
Leafeon @ Heat RockAbility: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 SpeAdamant Nature- Sunny Day- Synthesis- Leaf Blade / Solar Beam- Swords Dance / Dig / Toxic
Sunny Day- Increases the amount of health gained with synthesis. With leaf guard, it protects Leafeon from status changes.Synthesis- Heals double the normal amount with Sunny Day.Leaf Blade/Solar Beam- Leaf Blade has STAB, deals 90 damage, high chance of crit. hit, 100% acc. Solar Beam is powered instantly because of Sunny Day, has STAB, deals 120 damage, and has 100% acc.Swords Dance/Dig/Toxic- Swords Dance increases Leafeon’s attack, which leads to Leaf Blade being an OP move. Dig would be for fire type coverage. Toxic can be used to get rid of many Pokemon quickly, as damage increases each turn, and paired with synthesis and leaf guard would make Leafeon pretty unbeatable.
That’s the Leafeon I used in ORAS. I didn’t need much coverage because of the other Pokemon I had in my team, so mine knew Sunny Day/Leaf Blade/Synthesis/Swords Dance. It was pretty strong when paired with a water or electric type, since both would help deal with it’s weaknesses.
I don’t know why but, out of the blue (Or green!) I just started loving Leafeon. So now I hate every Eeveelution except for Jolteon and Leafeon.
LeafyIsHere (Leafeon) @ LeftoversAbility: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpeAdamant Nature- Sunny Day- Leaf Blade- Swords Dance- Synthesis
Sunny Day (If the toxic rains on your parade, Use Sunny Day to recover with the help of your ability)
Leaf Blade (STAB)
Swords Dance (Come on! You know why.)
Synthesis (Recover HP, And Sunny Day Stack.)
And I present you the worst incarnation of Leafeon that has ever been presented: Special Leafeon.
Moveset 1:Leafeon @ Weakness PolicyAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 SpA / 56 SpD / 200 SpeModest Nature- Work Up- Sunny Day- Solar Beam- Stored Power
Moveset 2:Leafeon @ Weakness PolicyAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 SpA / 56 SpD / 200 SpeModest Nature- Sunny Day- Solar Beam- Attract- Synchronoise
Moveset 3:Leafeon @ Weakness PolicyAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 SpA / 56 SpD / 200 SpeModest Nature- Sunny Day- Solar Beam- Synthesis- Shadow Ball
Strategy 1:Simple. When you can, set up with Work Up to raise Special Attack. Follow it up with Sunny Day + Solar Beam combo. If Weakness Policy activates, taking in all its boosts (Modest, 252 SpA EVs, Work Up, Weakness Policy, STAB, 120 BP) and getting a super-effective hit will be deadly. If only Leafeon had a better Special Attack stat.
Moveset 2:Kind of simple again. Make your Leafeon female for this. Use Attract against male opponents to stall them and get a good Sunny Day + Solar Beam combo off. Synchronoise is kind of questionable but deals with the occasional Grass/Poison types like Venusaur and Victreebel. Plus, it might come in handy vs Virizion or Chesnaught.
Strategy 3:This strategy has a clear focus all around and has some synergy. The traditional Sunny Day + Solar Beam combo goes first this time. Recover health with Synthesis and cover stuff like Gengar with Shadow Ball. Not much to say.
Nevertheless, this strategy is still terrible, and you shouldn’t consider it for competitive. Dear God just use Physical Leafeon or Wall Leafeon.
Go for sun Leafeon.
Leafeon @ Life OrbAbility: Leaf GuardEVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Sunny Day- Solar Blade- Synthesis- Dig
Alternatively, Swords Dance boosts Attack even higher. Another good move is X-Scissor. Iron Tail covers ice too. Dig is the best option though, as it covers steel and fire. Bugs will be trouble though, so Iron Tail is a good option for that.
Generation VIII
Leafeon(F) @ LeftoversAbility: Leaf GuardEVs: 236 Atk / 252 Def / 20 SpeAdamant Nature- Leaf Blade- Solar Blade- Sunny Day- X-Scissor
A set of physical moves that can deal intense damage. Sunny Day quickly charges the high damage dealing move Solar Blade without wasting your power herb. Leaf Blade comes in naturally to increase the chance of critical hits. X-Scissor can counter Psychic and Dark types, giving Leafeon more moves that can be super effective.
Eevee @ Eevium ZAbility: AnticipationEVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SpDImpish Nature- Last Resort- Double Team- Substitute- Baton Pass
This set should only be used in AG, because baton pass is banned from Ubers (I think). Substitute first, then Evoboost, Baton Pass in the face of a taunter, or use Double Team and then Baton Pass. The ability Anticipation is to see if the enemy packs Fighting type moves.
This one is a no charge powerhouse.
Leafeon @ Power HerbAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpeJolly Nature-Solar Blade-Swords Dance-Sunny Day / Dig / Iron Tail-Skull Bash
Solar Blade and Skull Bash do significant damage, and Sunny Day is for an extra speed boost if you want. Swords Dance is obvious, and then Dig is for Fire and Poison coverage, Iron Tail covers Ice. It works pretty well.
Gen 8 Battle Stadium Singles Dynamax SweeperLeafeon @ Life OrbAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeAdamant Nature- Leaf Blade- Knock Off- Aerial Ace- Double KickLife Orb boosts damage. Chlorophyll is its best ability, it is pretty useless on this set, but if the opponent sets sun, you can use it to benefit for yourself by having Chlorophyll and outspeeding. The EVs are your bread and butter sweeper EVs. Adamant Nature boosts attack, and Jolly isn’t needed for things explained later. Leaf Blade is STAB, can crit, and sets up Grassy Terrain if used when Dynamaxed. Knock Off removes the opponents items, and lowers SpD in Dynamax, but that side affect is pretty useless on this set. Aerial Ace seems odd, but in Dynamax, it boosts Spe. It also never misses, which is nice for noobs who use Double Team(as if you would run into any anyway). Double Kick is weirder, but in Dynamax, it boosts attack, and in regular form, it can break Substitutes.
Evoleaf (Leafeon) @ Darkinium ZAbility: ChlorophyllShiny: YesEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpDModest NatureIVs: 30 Def / 30 SpD / 30 Spe- Giga Drain- Sunny Day- Fake Tears- Hidden Power [Rock]
Took me a while to get this. And Yes, I know physical would work better. This setup is “just enough”.
Z-Fake Tears for that +1 Sp.ASunny Day to double your Speed.Giga Drain as STAB (112.5 BP) and recovery.Hidden Power Rock to take out all typing Grass is weak against.
Again, it’s not a great setup. It is just enough. The surprise from this setup is also kinda good, cuz nobody expects a special Leafeon.
Defensive Leafeon Build
Leafeon @ Leftovers / Any HP Restoring Item such as berriesAbility: Leaf GuardEvs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def or 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpeImpish Nature- Protect- Leech Seed- Synthesis- X-Scissor / Leaf Blade
Gen 9
Leafeon @ Assault VestAbility: ChlorophyllEVs: 252 Atk / 252 Hp / 4 SpdAdamant NatureFire Tera Type- Leaf Blade- Tera Blast- X-Scissor- Dig
This Leafeon build is intended for use on a sun team. I use it with Torkoal. Chlorophyll allows it to outspeed most of the meta in Gen 9, so I don’t feel the need to dump EVs into speed. Assault Vest and 252 Hp EVs give it some serious bulk, and fire tera blast hits like a truck in harsh sunlight. The end result is a mon that has serious offense, serious bulk, and serious speed all in one package.
