Role: Lead
Nidoqueen (F) @ Red CardAbility: Poison PointEVs: 252 Atk / 120 Def / 136 SpDAdamant Nature- Stealth Rock- Toxic Spikes- Earthquake- Dragon Tail
Ah, my old favorite Lead.
The strategy here is quite simple, you set up hazards, and then Dragon Tail until you die, Occasionallly Using Earthquake if you’re dealing super effective damage.
Gen V
Nidoqueen (F) @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Ice Beam- Earth Power- Toxic Spikes- Thunderbolt
Offensive lead. Set up your Toxic Spikes. If the foe has Taunt, or you are in a situation where you’d rather not use Toxic Spikes, then you can hit the foe hard. Sheer Force powers up all of your moves, and all of your moves have great type coverage. Also, Lif Orb recoil is negated. A really powerful sweeper, especially in NU where it resides due to Nidoking.
Nidoqueen (F) @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Sludge Bomb- Flamethrower- Earth Power- Ice Beam
Nidoqueen was such an unbeatable queen in this set, all moves are boosted by Sheer Force and Life Orb which makes an extreme STAB, I was wishing that it will come to Gen 8 as soon as possible.By record in Sun/Moon, this set has won up to580battle in Sun / Moon without a lose. This set was used by the Japan champion, too.
Nidoqueen @ LeftoversAbility: Poison Point / RivalryEVs: 110 Atk / 200 Def / 200 SpDJolly Nature-Rest-Sleep Talk-Dragon Tail-Super Fang
Restishealing.Sleep Talklets you attack in your sleep.Dragon Tailloses its low priority when used bySleep Talkso it can becoverageand damage switching have a Pokemon with entry hazards on your team to maximize effectiveness.Super Fangis for if you do not useDragon-tailyou can use this to take half of their HP in just one hit, you could simply not have a fourth move to maximize chances ofDragon Tailbut it also increases the chance of usingRestand not doing anything.
Rivalrycan be used strategically if you know your opponent has all males but it is risky,Poison Pointis the safe alternative but it is not very useful.
Gen 8 OU
Nidoqueen @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDAdamant Nature- Poison Jab- Earthquake- Fire Punch- Ice Punch
Poison Jab for the Tapus and Clefable, Sheer Force and STAB boosted. Earthquake is STAB and isn’t Sheer Force boosted but still lets you threaten Heatran and Magearna. SF boosted Fire Punch mainly for Ferrothorn and Corviknight, SF boosted Ice Punch for Garchomp and Dragonite.
Gen III
Nidoqueen (F) @ Choice BandAbility: Poison PointEVs: 252 Atk / 84 Def / 100 SpD / 72 SpeAdamant Nature- Sludge Bomb- Earthquake- Superpower- Shadow Ball
Just hope you don’t die! This is straight up offensive tanking, enough defenses not to die, a nifty ability to piss off unlucky people making physical contact, so much fun.
Sludge Bomb is some STAB for you, and a chance to poison, which is always fun.
Earthquake is strong STAB with great coverage.
Superpower is for a Knock N Switch routine, yay for that. And Shadow Ball is for Ghost-types and Psychic-types, and gives you defense agaisn’t Gengar.
Double/Triple Battle
Nidoqueen (F) @ Choice ScarfAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 144 Atk / 116 SpA / 248 SpeRash Nature- Sludge Wave- Rock Slide- Earthquake- Blizzard
A mixed sweeper. Earthquake and Rock Slide have been mentioned before as being just awesome in multi-battles. Rock Slide gets the Sheer Force boost this time. Earthquake gets STAB. Sludge Wave hits multiple foes, gets STAB, and is boosted by Sheer Force. This makes it very powerful. Blizzard hits multiple foes and gets the Sheer Force boost, making it very powerful. While its attacking stats might not be the highest, it makes up for it with incredibly high base power hitting multiple foes.
Okay, so I’ve seen so many sets for Nidoqueen/king (for this set I like Nidoqueen because of the pinch of extra Defense). This is more of an annoyer, it can give a big advantage over teams that: A) Have a lot of Pokemon that are effected by both Ground and Poison, B) have Pokemon that LIKE to stat boost, and C) (the best case scenario) Pokemon that NEED to stat boost before they can really take down Nido. The best part about this set is that you can use it in UU. So let’s get to it.
Gen V of course
Nidoqueen @ Black Sludge / Focus SashAbility: Poison PointEVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 126 Def / 126 SpDCareful Nature- Toxic Spikes- Stealth Rock- Protect- Dragon Tail
Black Sludge gets extra HP and punishes choice switchers or Focus Sash if you want a guarenteed Toxic Spikes.
Now this is a very good set if it works, which I’ve noticed works probably 60% of the time, there are, however, a LOT of counters to this set, but in general this set at least puts Toxic Spikes on the field and you can usually get a switch or two in. Here’s the basic formula for how to use this.
Put out a Toxic Spikes, if they used something like Curse or Acid Armor or Cosmic Power you have just accomplished half the battle. At this point you can make a guess, you can either guess they’re going to keep increasing their Defense for at least another round and put out another Toxic Spikes or even a Stealth Rock to have almost assured damage for foes not effected by Toxic Spikes. OR if they up their Attack your best bet is to use Dragon Tail to switch them out and hope they don’t OHKO you.
If you get as far as putting out the Spikes and all, you can start making decisions. Let’s say that there’s a Scizor out, if he does a Bullet Punch for 49% damage, then you can use Protect to gain back enough HP to take another hit and put out Dragon Tail, which then puts out another decision, you’re stuck on low HP and they send out something that has ANY attack to kill you possibly. If you have enough HP, Protect and take another hit and throw out another Dragon Tail, but if you happen to be faster, then you can try to throw more field hazards out before you die. or if you’re slower, you can maybe try to switch out, but it isn’t really worth it.
Now you’ve set up a great field and maybe poisoned some and damaged others. The best thing to do with Nidoqueen here is to have a couple of tanks in your party, or more sponges. My favorite is to use Nidoqueen in the UU tier, for you will have less of a chance getting OHKO, but I still use this set in OU as well. So in UU, I love having a Clefable with Magic Guard. No poison, weather, or any shenanigans like that, and then give it Leftovers, Cosmic Power, 252 HP split defences, and something like stored power (260 base power with +6 on both defences) and then Sof-Boiled and you are unstoppable, you just wait for poison to take effect, occasionally throwing out Stored Power. Watch out for Dark-types though.
And now I’ve rambled, but I wanted to share this strategy/set.
Nidoqueen (F) @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpeAdamant Nature- Poison Jab- Earthquake- Thunder Punch- Crunch
All the attacks except Earthquake will be boosted by Sheer Force and Life Orb which will do a ton of damage. Poison Jab and Earthquake are STAB. Thunder Punch and Crunch covers its Psychic-type weakness and Water-type weakness.
DW nidoqueen
Nidoqueen @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpABrave Nature / Adamant Nature- Sludge Wave- Earth Power- Thunderbolt- Dynamic Punch
Sludge Wave (STAB powerful. don’t need to say anything more. after all boosts, it’s “stats” is like: 240 power, 100 accuracy, 10-16 PP. ((outclasses sludge bomb with only 228 power since sheer force takes away the poison chance)) ).
Earth Power (don’t go earthquake. gets life orb recoil and doesn’t get the sheer force boost, making it undiscutibly worse after the boost, “stats” is: 228 power, 100 accuracy, 10-16 PP).
Thunderbolt (covers water types, great power after sheer force and life orb boost. a great move for water types and for the flying types which don’t takes damage from earth power. “stats” is: 152 Power, 100 Accuracy, 15-24 PP).
Dynamic Punch (covers ice types, while deals super effective damage in other 4 types, I know it’s accuracy sucks, but I think that, after the sheer force and the life orb boost, the “stats” gets at: 169 Power, 50 accuracy((but still)), 5-8 PP. I think it makes up, eh?).
Mixed Attacker Nidoqueen. Power, Power, POWEEEEEER!!!
Gen 8 BDSP RUNidoqueen (F) @ Life OrbAbility: Sheer ForceEVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe or 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 SpeTimid / Naive Nature- Earth Power- Thunderbolt- Ice Beam- Stealth Rock / Superpower / Sludge Wave
Sheer Force Life Orb set for Nidoqueen in BDSP RU. Earth Power is used for a Sheer Force boosted Ground STAB. Thunderbolt, which is also boosted by Sheer Force, allows you to deal super effective damage to Pokemon such as Mantine and Slowking. Ice Beam is Sheer Force boosted and lets you deal with Pokemon such as Torterra, Venusaur, and Claydol. Earth Power along with the BoltBeam combo lets you hit the entire tier. This makes Nidoqueen’s last slot flexible. Stealth Rock can be used to setup Stealth Rock as you pretty much beat the tier’s hazard removal. Superpower can be used instead with a Naive Nature and 4 Atk EVs so Earth Power into Superpower can beat Chansey. Sludge Wave can be used instead for a Sheer Force Poison STAB that pressures Granbull and Mesprit.
