I run this set with my Spiritomb, its a tankish thingy
Spiritomb @ Choice ScarfAbility: PressureEVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpDCareful Nature- Trick- Sucker Punch- Will-O-Wisp- Pain Split
Careful nature: You will need SpD because you already got Will-O-Wisp
TrickOk this may be your first move, so you can break your opponent strategy fast, and then switch to a sweeper, or keep stalling
Sucker PunchSome priority can be helpful (You can also use shadow Sneak, has less power but it will ensure damage)
Will-O-WispBurn yer' foes, you can also predict a switch after using trick
Pain SplitRecover from another poke’s HP, you can also predict a switch too
Spiritomb (M) @ Choice Band
Role: Tricky Kill’sya
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Def / 100 SpD
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
Trick’s the Band onto the Foe, Confuses whoever switches in, or the foe if he’s good with staying in, Or Sucker Punch / Shadow Sneak sweep with Dual STAB, you’re pretty tankish with the EV’s and no weaknesses.
Spiritomb @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 DefQuiet Nature / Modest Nature
Dark Pulse/Shadow Balldepends on if you have Trick Room support, so does the nature.
Nasty PlotYES.
PsychicGives coverage, nice move.
Hidden Power Fightingworks well with the dark/ghost type move as well as Psychic.
Spiritomb (M) @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDBold nature ( -Atk, +Def)
Classic sleep talk set. CM a few times then rest off the damage, and Sleep Talk Dark Pulse away!
My Spiritomb is pretty sick IMO:
Found my seed so its flawlessly bred. (31 IVs in each category)
Spiritomb @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 148 Def / 212 SpA / 148 SpDModest Nature
Its final stats are:241 HP198 Atk289 Def300 SpA289 SpD106 Spe
It’s gonna tank basically anything thrown at it while it Nasty Plots its way to a 4x or maxed SpA.
National Dex UU is the only format where Pursuit and Poltergeist are compatible, and where it can put in the slightest amount of work for a team.
Spiritomb @ Black Glasses / Sitrus Berry / Choice BandAbility: InfiltratorEVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDAdamant Nature
Poltergeist is your main STAB move. It reveals the enemy’s item and does a ton of damage. Pursuit traps Pokemon like Mew and Slowking as well as Pokemon with pivoting moves like U-turn Urshifu Rapid-Strike style and Volt Switch Zeraora. Sucker Punch is nice priority. Before you downvote because Burning Jealousy is here, hear me out.Spiritomb heavily relies on Dark and Ghost type moves as its main damage output. This means any Dark type that has bulk will be able to switch in (for example, Bisharp). Some Pokemon have the ability to stomach a potential Poltergeist, and then set up without being revenge-killed by Sucker Punch, or they have the ability to force it out. These Pokemon include Urshifu-RSS, Aegislash, Buzzwole, Mega Altaria, Dragonite, Porygon2, Scizor, and Galarian Zapdos. Notice a pattern here? All these Pokemon have the ability to set up with either Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Dragon Dance, Curse, or Download. You can make a risky prediction and stay in on these threats. However, scouting the set is very important. Who knows, you might use Burning Jealousy on Urshifu-S only to find its a Choice Band variant. Or that Aegislash you decided to stay in on? Instead of being Swords Dance, you find out its a Sub+Toxic variant.Burning Jealousy allows you to push some chip damage, slight as it may be, on several targets, even if you don’t predict correctly. Most notably, you can potentially 2HKO Bisharp and Curse Scizor after Stealth Rock, something which Poltergeist fails to do.Burning Jealousy needs to be used in conjunction with skilled predictions, while Will-O-Wisp is fairly simple in its approach, but predicting correctly and getting a guaranteed burn on something setting up is better than accidentally missing Will-O-Wisp and giving the opponent a free turn to set up.Trick should be used only on Choice Band sets. It can cripple several standard defensive Pokemon in the tier.
Gen 8 ZUSpiritomb @ Choice BandAbility: InfiltratorEVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpDAdamant Nature- Poltergeist- Sucker Punch- Trick- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
Poltergeist is strong STAB. Sucker Punch is priority STAB. Trick is to trick your Choice Band on a Pokemon who won’t benefit from it such as a hazard setter. Once you trick Choice Band onto someone that will have to switch out, you can punish the Pokemon switching in by burning them with Will-o-Wisp, or poison them with Toxic.
Seeing as he has no weaknesses, I say he is a Wallin' BOSS.
Spiritomb @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDCalm Nature
RestTalk if you think you are lucky and want to troll, Calm Mind and Psychic to be a good attacker.
Tricksy Reworked
Spiritomb @ Choice BandAbility: PressureEVs: 58 HP / 200 Atk / 150 Def / 100 SpDAdamant Nature / Impish nature
My take on the “Tricky Kill’sya” move set. Fair warning, this hasn’t been play tested, just playing around with the set posted by Josh to work in Foul Play, which was added to Spiritomb’s moveset via B2/W2 tutors. Trick gives your foe the Choice Band while Swagger pumps up their attack stat as it confuses them, working the same way as Confuse Ray on a switch, but netting you a Choice-Banded Swagger boosted STAB Foul Play on any bulky physical attacker that stays in thinking they can take you. Swagger works with Foul Play on the set, giving you a truly frightening STAB against physical sweepers. Shadow Sneak rounds off the set, giving you a reliable priority STAB to use with Choice Band or to revenge kill confused foes.
EVs have been reworked to give more physical bulk in case Swagger backfires. A Defense increasing nature could also be chosen to increase survivability against a boosted physical attack, though it will likely cause noticeable reduction of damage output on the already weak Shadow Sneak. You could try swapping Shadow Sneak for Sucker Punch on this set (Since Dark and Ghost have very similar type coverage) to increase power, but it’s less reliable.
Spiritomb (M) @ LeftoversAbility: PressureEVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpDBold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
Infestation traps the opponent, WoW Burns them & cripples physical attackers, Snarl weakens special attackers & is STAB, the final slot goes to some type of healing or stalling move.
Spirit Sweeper (Spiritomb) @ LeftoversShiny: YesEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Hypnosis- Dream Eater- Shadow Ball- Will-O-Wisp
So I play Pokemon Showdown. I think Spiritomb is a good sweeper for Halloween Party, or any ghost-type monotype team. I swept with only Shadow Ball, but I’d Hypnosis first then Dream Eater. Later, Will-O-Wisp. And spam Shadow Ball. If the opponent uses Taunt (always for me), I just keep the Shadow Ball going.
Ok, so Spiritomb doesn’t have the best speed in the world. Don’t worry, though, I know how to use this to Spiritomb’s advantage:
Spiritomb @ Zoom LensAbility: InfiltratorEVs: 252 SpD / 252 Def / 4 HPModest Nature (+SpA -Atk)Moveset:
Hopefully, you can see where I’m going with this set.To start off, the zoom lens boosts hypnosis' accuracy, which is the main focal point of this set. Nasty Plot is for boosting your other moves as the opponent sleeps away. The other moves are for STAB. Also, the nature is for boosting the STAB moves' power, and the EVs are to further buff his already good Defense and Special Defense to make him a tank of sorts. Thing is, though, I never tested this set; I just used my imagination. Let me know of any issues you may find with this set; I’d greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
Spiritomb @ LeftoversEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDAbility: PressureBold Nature- Snarl- Calm Mind- Will-O-Wisp- Pain Split
Pressure stall Spiritomb. If faced with a special attacking foe, set up a Calm Mind then proceed to Snarl them to lower their SpA. If faced with a physical attacking foe, burn them with Will-O-Wisp to reduce physical damage. If Spiritomb’s health gets too low, use Pain Split to regain lost health. This set will most definitely annoy the opponent.
Spiritomb @ LeftoversAbility : PressureEvs : 252 Hp, 252 Sp. Atk, 4 defModest Nature (+Sp. Atk -Atk)- Dark Pulse- Nasty Plot- Psychic- Pain Split
This entire set revolves around Buffing damage heavily and keeping spiritomb alive to start sweeping. Pain split can be used to heal spiritomb with the leftovers healing him a bit more giving him a chance to survive more attacks and chipping high HP walls, for example, Vaporeon, Snorlax, Corviknight and co. Psychic / Dark pulse for coverage for Pokemon like Mewtwo as with +4 or higher will either heavily cripple or instantly kill it and -if you’re lucky - Calyrex-Shadow, as spiritomb only has one weakness. The fairy type but you have 5 other Pokemon to switch to to take care of it, so that’s my idea of a set for spiritomb.
Wraith (Spiritomb) @ LeftoversAbility: PressureTera Type: GhostEVs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 200 SpA / 36 SpDQuiet NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Nasty Plot- Will-O-Wisp- Psychic- Shadow Ball
A Wraith is usually a hallucination of people long gone. But in this scenario, I remembered the Wisps to be collected and Vessa in PLA and realized Vessa was a hallucination created by Spiritomb after the wisps were all collected. This Pokemon to me is like a bruiser in LoL, powerful but can tank a few hits. The leftovers help keep Spiritomb alive. Pressure is it’s only ability, which I find kinda rude. They could’ve given it Cursed Body or something. Nasty Plot serves to boost the raw power of the other three moves. Those moves being Psychic and Shadow Ball. This moveset originally had Dark Pulse but after reflection, I decided to give Will-O-Wisp instead to cause some status issues. Ghost Tera seems obvious to me because although it does not grant immunity to Psychic Type, it has less weaknesses and you still have Shadow Ball to whack any Psychic Types aiming at you.
