Tapu Fini @ LeftoversEVs: 252 HP/128 Def/128 Sp.DNature: BoldAbility: Misty Surge
Aqua RingWhirlpoolMoonbastProtect
Here’s how this set works: You set up Aqua Ring and Whirlpool. You have Protect to stall, and Moonblast in-between Protects. This extremely bulky set is a little different from the other answers so far, and it works GREAT with Leftovers. Misty Surge is great because it protects it from status-conditions like poison or burn.
Tapu Fini @ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDBold Nature- Calm Mind- Taunt- Moonblast- ScaldTaunt + CM to set up on vulnerable mons, and dual STABs for offense. Full HP and Def EVs to let it take physical hits better, since this is a CM set.
Tapu Fini@ LeftoversType : Water / FairyAbility: Misty SurgeNature : Bold ( Def+ Atk- )EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpDIVs: 0 Atk
She’s a freaking Special Tank with Calm Mind. The EV spread boost its bulk amazingly. Misty Surge is an awesome ability to have, allowing Tapu Fini to be immune to Poison and Burn. Scald is STAB and also burns the opponent who are levitating or flying in Misty Terrain. Aqua Ring and Leftovers allows it to heal for more Hp, allowing it to stay longer in battles. Protect is a nice move to have on Tanks, also allowing Tapu Fini to heal for Hp without the opponent attacking. Calm Mind boost its Special Defence, and also Special Attack to boost the power of Scald. She’s just like a truly overpowered Primarina. Using her against Special Attackers is the best.
Tapu Fini @ LeftoversTrait: Misty SurgeEVs: 184 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD / 68 SpeBold Nature-Surf-Defog-Moonblast-Protect
EV Spread maximizes mixed bulk and gives Tapu Fini the speed it needs to outspeed the average defensive Landorus-Therian. Tapu Fini provides good Defog support. Surf is a most sensible choice to compromise reliability and power, due to Misty Terrain effectively cancelling out Scald’s utility for five turns. Protect provides a free turn for getting additional Leftovers recovery, and finally, Moonblast may lower enemy Special Attack while dealing high damage.
Tapu Fini is the only defensive Tapu Guardian and therefore the only Tapu which is worth running Nature’s Madness on. I would recommend a supporter set with this one because it doesn’t have a reliable recovery option.
Tapu Fini@ Leftovers252 HP/96 Def /158 SpDBold nature
-Taunt-Nature’s Madness-Moonblast/Surf-Aqua Ring/Haze/Defog
The combination of Taunt-Nature’s Madness is arguably the best way to shut down other defensive Pokemon. Since Nature’s Madness will never faint anyone, another damage-dealing move is obligatory and that’s where its STAB moves come in handy. Surf is better than Scald because of Misty Terrain and more power. The last slot is just what is still missing in your team.

This is set works well in VGC and is inspired by Se Jun Park’s set that he used to get top of the battlespot ladder with. The Choice Specs save you a turn of setting up with Calm Mind and can often surprise your opponent with its Turn 1 damage output. The EVs are really simple to give all round bulk but you can also EV specifically to live one hit from either Kartana (need Bold, 84 Def) or Xurkitree (need Calm, 244 HP / 28 SpD) if you don’t have any hard switch ins for them.
Tapu Fini @ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpABold NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Aqua Ring- Protect- Moonblast- Scald/ Ice Beam/ Calm Mind
With Aqua Ring, Protect and Leftovers, it is very easy to gain a lot of HP, also, Scald can thaw if Tapu Fini gets Frozen, it might also burn the target. Usually, others use dragon type Pokemon, which is weak against moonblast, moonblast can KO dragon types if Calm Mind is used.
Tapu Fini @ Icium-ZAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 16 SpD / 52 SpeCalm NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Moonblast- Taunt- Haze- Defog/Nature’s Madness/ScaldTapu Fini can choose to forgo Leftovers for Z-Haze, which automatically heals it back to full HP. While this is a pretty niche option, it is useful on more offensive teams that have shorter games, meaning that Leftovers healing is eclipsed by the one-time heal back to full health. Offense also appreciates the benefits of regular Haze as well, namely stopping sweepers such as Volcarona and invalidating Baton Pass teams. The spread is standard, focusing on physical bulk but giving Tapu Fini some extra Special Defense as well as Speed to give it a fast Taunt. Alternatively, one can go with a Bold Nature and invest more in Defense to better take on physical attackers. Moonblast and Taunt are pretty much mandatory, giving Tapu Fini a reliable STAB move and good utility in shutting down opposing defensive Pokemon, respectively. The last moveslot is more flexible- Defog can be used if your team requires hazard control, while Scald can be used to more comfortably take on Pokemon such as Heatran. Nature’s Madness is also an option to break down defensive cores better.

Here’s my Tapu Fini set. (Its been Forever since I posted something on The Pokemon Database…) It’s a Fun set:
Tapu Fini@ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeEvs: 252 Def / 252 Hp / 6 SpABold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
Explanation: Bulky Sweeper anyone? Came up with this Set myself. Ice Beam hits the Oh so Common Landorus-Therian, Garchomp and Gliscor for 4x Super Effective damage if you can’t KO with Muddy Water or Moonblast. Calm Mind raises both Special Stats by one Stage each. Moonblast is Fairy STAB and has a 10% Chance to lower the foe’s Special Attack by 1 stage. Muddy Water is Water STAB with a Chance to lower the foe’s Accuracy by 1 stage, which can be Clutch in any battle.
Tapu Fini @LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeNature: BoldEVs: 252 HP, 128 Def, 128 SpDMoves:-Nature’s Madness: cuts HP in half.-Brine: base power is doubled to 130 when the target’s HP is half or below. Which is why Nature’s Madness is on this set.-Calm Mind: boosts your Special stats. Works well with Brine.-your choice of utility, or Moonblast for more coverage.Well I tried at making a gimmicky set. I think it could work fine.

Gen 8 OUTapu Fini @ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeIVs: 0 Atk- Calm Mind- Scald- Moonblast- Stored Power
It can set up Calm Mind against special attackers and get a lot of boosts, even up to +4. Scald and Moonblast are STAB. Stored Power can hit very hard after a lot of Calm Minds.

Moonblast is STAB and have a chance of lowering the oppoment’s SpA by 1 stage.

Gen 8 OUTapu Fini @ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Draining Kiss- Surf- Calm Mind- Stored Power
Draining Kiss is STAB and is for healing, and can do some good damage when you setup Calm Mind. Surf is also STAB. Stored Power does good damage once you setup multiple Calm Mind, and deals with Poison types.
Doubles Ubers
Tapu Fini @ Sitrus BerryAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpDBold NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Swagger- Protect- Muddy Water / Dazzling Gleam- Heal Pulse
Swagger is the main gimmick here. Unfortunately it’s banned in Doubles OU so I had to try to make it work in Doubles Ubers. Swagger allows Tapu Fini to give its ally a +2 boost to attack, and Tapu Fini’s Misty Terrain prevents the recipient from being confused. Protect allows Tapu Fini to be safe from non-Dynamax attacks (that aren’t coming from Urshifu but that’s uncommon) for a turn. Muddy Water and Dazzling Gleam are options for STAB, both dealing spread damage. Heal Pulse is to heal your ally. 252 HP EVs, 168 Defence EVs and a Bold nature allow Tapu Fini to survive a +2 Sunsteel Strike from Dusk Mane Necrozma at full health (and Wild Charge from Zacian). The rest of the EVs are dumped into special defence, but can be adjusted based on your team. For example, you could either raise Tapu Fini’s speed EVs to outspeed your ally, using Swagger before they attack (e.g. using a spread of252 HP / 168 Def / 44 SpD / 44 Speto outspeed 0 Spe Groudon), or lower speed EVs, IVs and run a Relaxed nature to be more suited for Trick Room.
Also, just a reminder that flying / levitating Pokémon still get confused, so don’t try this with something like Rayquaza or Ho-Oh. That won’t end well, unless they’re holding a Lum Berry.
Gen 8 OU
Trapper Tapu Fini
Tapu Fini @ LeftoversAbility: Misty SurgeEVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 SpDCalm Nature- Whirlpool- Moonblast- Nature’s Madness- Taunt
Thanks to Tapu Fini’s great defensive typing and ability, it can check Pokemon such as Urshifu, Weavile, and Dragapult while trapping defensive walls like Toxapex and Heatran. Whirlpool is for trapping the aforementioned defensive Pokemon, while applying extra chip to them. Nature’s Madness and Taunt lets Tapu Fini actually take down the walls in question, via halving their health and invalidating any attempts to heal or escape. Moonblast lets Fini actually check Urshifu, Weavile, and Dragapult.
40 Special Defense EVs and a Calm nature lets you live two Specs boosted Shadow Balls from Dragapult or Blacephalon, while 216 Defense and 252 HP EVs maximizes physical bulk for the likes of Urshifu and Weavile.
Trapper Tapu Fini fits well on many teams thanks to it’s overall utility, but Pokemon like Volcarona and Urshifu especially like their checks being removed and also benefit from Tapu Fini’s Misty Terrain, supporting them and preventing crippling status like Burns and Paralysis.
