Role: Rain SweeperVolcarona (F) @ LeftoversAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 96 SpD / 160 SpeModest Nature- Hurricane- Quiver Dance- Bug Buzz- Hidden Power [Water]

I love Rain.

Hurricane has 100% Accuracy in the rain, and is great coverage agaisn’t annoying fighting types with Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Etc. Quiver Dance is a must on this Behemoth unless you’re going on a choice Route, and Bug Buzz Provides Amazing STAB. And HP Water gets boosted in the rain.

Volcarona (M) @ Life OrbTrait: Flame BodyEVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Fiery Dance- Quiver Dance- Bug Buzz- Giga Drain

Uses Fiery Dance for additional SpA boosts, at the cost of Flamethrower’s or Fire Blast’s immediate power. Bug Buzz is a strong STAB move for when you need to hit a damage benchmark. Giga Drain hits bulky waters that can handle Volcarona’s other attacks.

Pretty much every Volcarona you have ever seen is a Quiver Dance Volcarona. I’m not about to sit here and tell you that Quiver Dance Volcarona is bad, as it is extremely deadly. However, something very few people will be expecting is a scarfed Volcarona. With a base special attack stat of 135, this moth can pack a punch, even without a Quiver Dance boost, and Fiery Dance can provide a SAtk boost should you use it. Base 100 speed is more than enough to pull off an effective scarf set, and Volcarona has great coverage to go with his stellar stats, as well as the ability to switch in on a slew of moves it resists, and it’s quite bulky on the special side. It has the ability to operate in Sun and Rain, and it can operate in Sand although it is not recomended. With Rapid Spin support, the Stealth Rocks that bog Volcarona down can be kept away, allowing Volcarona to switch in and out as often as it wants too.

Volcarona @ Choice ScarfAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Fiery Dance / Fire Blast / Hurricane- Bug Buzz- Hidden Power [Ground]- Giga Drain

Volcarona @ Sitrus BerryAbility: Flame BodyLevel: 50EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 12 SpA / 4 SpD / 4 SpeModest Nature– Heat Wave– Bug Buzz– Rage Powder– Tailwind

This vgc set combine all you need from a redirection support, decent special and physical bulk, good fire power (ah ah) and speed control. With it’s typing it can redirect easily will-o-wisps making it one of the best partner for physical type attacker, it has tailwind for speed control and heat wave for spread damage (you can change it for fiery dance but spread damage is better in my opinion). You have to be careful about incoming rock slides and rock type attacks in general but volcarona can be deadly if you are not prepared.

Volcarona @ Kee BerryEVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 SpeAbility: Flame BodyBold Nature- Fire Blast/Heat Wave/Flamethrower/Fiery Dance- Bug Buzz- Quiver Dance- Morning Sun/Giga Drain

This set has won me many battles. It emphasizes on improving Volcarona’s poor Def and takes full advantage of its ability Flame Body. Once the foe is burned and its Kee Berry is consumed, Volcarona can tank most physical hits. Volcarona already has good base SpA, SpD and Spe, which is why the EVs are mainly put into HP and Def. Set up a Quiver Dance and that’s a +1 in four different stats. It may still be a bit slow, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for with its defenses. Heal with Morning Sun or Giga Drain. I prefer Morning Sun as the foe could resist Giga Drain and it’s a guaranteed heal. As for attacking moves, I prefer Fire Blast or Flamethrower over Fiery Dance since there is a chance to burn, and not all attacks make direct contact to activate its ability. Bug Buzz is standard on any Volcarona. Switch in on Mega Kangaskhan and watch the magic work. Do not take this Volcarona lightly.

Volcarona (M) @ Focus SashAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Bug Buzz- Fiery Dance- Quiver Dance- Hidden Power [Ice]

Gen 9 National Dex Monotype Bulkarona (Bug)Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty BootsAbility: Flame BodyTera Type: BugEVs: 164 HP / 252 Def / 92 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance- Will-O-Wisp- Roost

A Bulky Quiver Dance set that is different than the typical Bulky Quiver Dance Volcarona sets. I had to use Will-O-Wisp Volcarona + Mega Pinsir for a CLC in NatDex Monotype this week for Bug. The set had put in work, so I’m posting it here. This set is the Bulky set Volcarona uses on Fire teams in SV Monotype, but this set has Roost over Morning Sun since this is used in a NatDex Format, and has a little bit more speed.

Quiver Dance boosting Volcarona’s Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed stats allow it to become a potent wincon, and this set lets you get off multiple Quiver Dances. The Special Defense boosts are nice to allow Volcarona to setup against Pokemon who uses Special Attacks. Fiery Dance is used for the Fire STAB as its 50% chance to boost Volcarona’s Special Attack is nice to help snowball in games. Will-O-Wisp lets Volcarona cripple physical attackers, opening up more setup opportunities for Volcarona and its teammates such as Mega Pinsir, Buzzwole, and Scizor. Will-O-Wisp is also nice to force chip damage onto opposing Pokemon. Roost gives Volcarona reliable HP recovery, letting it stick around longer and helps with Volcarona getting off multiple Quiver Dances. Since Fiery Dance is its only attack, you should get rid of roadblocks such as Araquanid, Heatran, and Toxapex before going for game with Volcarona.

92 Speed EVs with a Timid Nature allows Volcarona to outspeed Zeraora after a Quiver Dance. 164 HP EVs and 252 Defense EVs along with Flame Body and Will-O-Wisp allow Volcarona to take physical hits better. The reason this set uses 164 HP / 252 Def EVs and not 252 HP / 164 Def is because Volcarona can get off multiple Quiver Dances with this set to help with Volcarona’s special bulk, and the spread lets Volcarona take a bit less damage from physical attackers. (Also, the spread that this set uses in SV Monotype also uses Max Defense EVs, and I used that set but with a bit more speed)

Volcarona (M) @ Life OrbAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpeModest Nature- Heat Wave- Giga Drain- Quiver Dance- Psychic

Awesome Pokemon!!

Volcarona (M) @ CharcoalAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Bug Buzz- Fiery Dance- Giga Drain- Hurricane

Charcoal boost up your Fiery dance that has a 50% chance of boost your attackBug Buzz- STAB and powerfulFiery Dance- STAB plus 50% chance of boosting your attackGiga Drain - For Water, Ground and Water type PokemonHurricane- Super strong Flying move

Volcarona@ Expert BeltAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeModestNature

Build up some Quiver Dances and you are good to go, Giga Drain is a powerful attack that will not only kick ass, but will get you some serious amount of HP back if you have stacked Quiver Dance. It also covers both water and rock type weaknesses at once. Solar Beam is a nice move to have in double battles with a Pokemon like Lilligant, which can have Sunny Day and maybe Synthesis. Bug Buzz is a nice STAB move and most powerful Special Bug move. For the last spot, a fire-type move should be perfect.

Typical Volcarona:

Volcarona @ Life OrbAbility: SwarmEVs: 248 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 4 SpeBold Nature- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance / Fire Blast- Bug Buzz- Morning Sun

This thing has absolutely no type coverage… AND I LUV IT!Quiver Dance couple times, Morning Sun to cover up the Life Orb recoil and to clear up any damage from Quiver Dance abusing. I like Fiery Dance better but as Quiver Dance already boosts it so much Fire Blast can be useful. Oh BTW I like Fiery Dance better but I have Fire Blast instead. LMAO. Getting it to lvl 100 to learn Fiery Dance again.Bug Buzz… I really dont have to explain, right? Morning Sun… you know why. Then here’s the ultimate type coverage set:

Volcarona @ Big Root / LeftoversAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpDModest Nature- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance- Giga Drain- Bug Buzz

Bug types… :( They’ll probably switch out Psy or Dark type Pokemon once they see this beast anyways…Set up with Quiver Dance@Leftovers and then couple Fiery Dances. Next Giga Drain deals HUGE damage against Water and Rock+healing. Draining, I mean. LMAO (Bug BUzz… you know why.)Next, a physical Volcarona. I know, I know, physical sux. But, who cares?

Volcarona @ LeftoversAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpDJolly Nature- Leech Life / U-turn- Wild Charge- Aerial Ace- Flame Charge

U-turn is weaker and doesn’t drain but is useful against rock or water types. Wow. Yo gonna kick opponents butts.

Now, sunny day volcarona:

Volcarona @ Life OrbAbility: SwarmEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Solar Beam- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance- Bug Buzz

Typical… works well with Niinetales., M Charizard Y etc…And that’s it! Thanks for enduring this!

Damn, we need to clean this page up of old inexperienced answers.

While my set is rather gimmicky, the sheer surprise factor this carries coupled with multiple nuclear options makes it often quite a viable set.

Volcarona @ Firium ZAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Quiver Dance- Bug Buzz- Overheat- Giga Drain

Firium Z Overheat basically takes care of any problem except Chansey. Quiver Dance can help you take less damage from further Overheats and gets you sped up. Bug Buzz and Giga Drain are standard Volcarona offense. This is my favorite Volcarona set.

Volcarona @ LeftoversAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 58 SpD / 200 SpeModest Nature- Fiery Dance- Bug Buzz- Giga Drain- Hurricane / Quiver Dance

Personally I would use Hurricane over Quiver Dance as he already has Fiery Dance for SpA, he is already really fast, and my Volcarona is fairly weak on the defensive side, even with the 58 evs in Def. Hurricane also kills Fighting typescough cough Blaziken

Gen 8 1v1Volcarona @ Maranga BerryAbility: Swarm / Flame BodyEVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 120 SpD / 88 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Bug Buzz- Substitute- Quiver Dance- Roost

This set is meant to check special attackers. Bug Buzz is STAB. Substitute is to protect yourself from status. Quiver Dance boosts your special attack, special defense, and speed, making Volcarona able to take special hits better and can become an offensive threat. Roost is for healing.

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty BootsAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Quiver Dance- Roost- Safeguard- Flamethrower

Corona (Volcarona) @ Leftovers Ability: SwarmEVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Quiver Dance- Giga Drain- Bug Buzz- Fiery Dance

Role= Fast Special sweeper

Volcarona @ Leftovers / Focus SashAbility: Flame BodyEVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpeBold Nature- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance- Giga Drain / Bug buzz- Hurricane [ Rain = 100% accurate ]

Worlds best bug alive. For that bug these attacks are so good I use it in showdown too as my fire type with the same attacks and with that speed and spacial attack it can sweep everyone as always it depends on your battle style. So if you want Hurricane to be 100% accurate use a pelipers drizel or a fast Pokemon raindance like inteleon and etc.

Don’t think I’ve seen this set posted on here…

Nat Dex MonotypeVolcarona (F) @ Heavy-Duty BootsAbility: Flame BodyShiny: YesEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeTimid NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Quiver Dance- Bug Buzz- Fiery Dance- Psychic

Quiver Dance to set up. Bug Buzz and Fiery Dance are standard STAB. Psychic hits Poison types like Toxapex and Fighting types like Kommo-o. Enjoy.

Volcarona @ Heavy-duty boots (My Volcarona step on stealth rock and lost 50% of it hp)Ability: Flame BodyEVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 SpeModest Nature- Quiver Dance- Fiery Dance (STAB)- Bug Buzz (another Stab)- Giga Drain (cover against rock/ground/water)
