Geez, everyone’s sets look pretty well the same with only a move varying between… Here’s something a little different:

One more I am back to make use of a UU Pokemon in OU. Revently I’ve been using Life Orb Weavile in OU and I just love it to death. It could do without the weakness to rocks but STAB Ice moves are really nice to have in this metagame. Weavile has 125 Base Attack, and thus has no problem dishing hits, and with his massive Base 125 Speed, one might wonder why you would scarf such a quick Pokemon, and that is the same reason Choice Scarf Gengar used to be popular and a few more, mainly is that it is fast enough to run circles around pretty much all of OU, boosted or not. Weavile has no problem revenge killing pretty much every scarfer in the tier, opponents at +1 speed, and even opponents at +2 speed under certain conditions. Also, without priority (Which I will admit pretty much murders this sexy scourge), he is hard to stop late game, meaning it will outspeed your entire team and keep dishing hits, making it one heck of a late gamer, which means it immensely eppreciates Stealth Rock and maybe some layers of Spikes as well. One may also wonder why I have Jolly > Adamant, and that is because with a Jolly Nature, Weavile is able to outspeed max speed Venusuar in the sun, which is almost always OHKO’d by Ice Punch after SR damage (Venusaur is at 88% after rocks and Ice Punch does a minumum of 86%, so the chance of not KO’ing after rocks is insanely low). Night Slash and Ice Punch cover a lot of threats, while Low Kick takes care of the Scarfed Terrakions that think they can take you down, and it also 2HKO’s standard Ferrothorn, which means Ferro is denied the ability to switch into Weavile should you predict correctly. One more perk is that he is amazing at trapping Psychic types like Alakazam and Starmie. Ice Shard is an option but with his speed any priority users will not take much damage from Ice Shard and otherwise he will rarely need it as he is close to 600 speed with a scarf.

Gen 8 NUSneasel @ Choice BandAbility: Inner FocusEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Knock Off- Icicle Crash- Ice Shard- Psycho Cut / Low Kick / Poison Jab

Knock Off is STAB and removes the opponent’s held item. Icicle Crash is STAB. Ice Shard is priority STAB. For the last slot, you could run Psycho Cut to deal with fighting types switching in, Low Kick to deal with heavy steel types such as Aggron, or Poison Jab to deal with fairy types.

This set is simply amazing, it can sweep many teams that dont have fighting types pokes with mach punch.

Ice punch/icicle crash- good power and 100% acc or more power but less acc.

Ice shard- priority move

Low kick- coverage

Knock off- STAB and gets rid of items, even charizard Y get 1HKO(if stealth rock is on the field)

This is more of a utility Weavile that can potentially set up. Weavile is above average in terms of speed, so pulling off Taunt first turn is likely and is good for prevent Pokémon who want to use status moves like Stealth Rock, Will-o-Wisp, and set-up moves like Swords Dance that will hurt Weavile and your team. Swords Dance allows Weavile to set up. The Focus Sash is mandatory for this set, as Weavile has mediocre defenses and you don’t want to waste a Pokémon that can only pull off one Taunt. As for attacking moves, Knock Off is probably the better STAB Dark move because you can get rid of annoying items like Leftovers pretty early in the game. Ice Shard is also STAB and has priority, which is always useful. Both Pressure and Picketpocket are good abilities, but I gave it mine Picketpocket because after depleting its Focus Sash, Weavile gains potential to steal another item, which can be pretty useful.

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty BootsAbility: PressureEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Swords Dance- Knock Off- Icicle Crash / Triple Axel- Ice Shard

Weavile is a solid Swords Dance sweeper that shines as a late game sweeper. Heavy-Duty Boots greatly increases Weavile’s longevity, letting it come in multiple times throughout the game regardless if hazards are up. Due to Weavile’s low bulk, Swords Dance should only be used on a resisted hit or switch. Knock Off is the primary STAB and is overall a great move for both offense and utility. Icicle Crash or Triple Axel is Weavile’s Ice type STAB, with Icicle Crash being the more reliable option and Triple Axel having higher power. Ice Shard can pick off low-health faster enemies that otherwise threaten Weavile.

Weavile works well with Pokemon that can remove Steel types to make setting up and sweeping much easier, such as Magnezone or Heatran. Weavile can also serve as a decent offensive check to Dragapult, and can often threaten it out for a free Swords Dance. Weavile also appreciates Pokemon that can set Stealth Rock for extra chip on it’s enemies. Weavile struggles with bulky water types or physical walls such as Tapu Fini and Corviknight respectively. Electric types such as Zeraora or Magnezone can help.

This is basically the Smogon set, but with Wide Lens as the item. Sneasel’s niche in NU is being a fast wallbreaker with really good STAB moves. Swords Dance gives your attacks a boost, making it hard to switch in to. Triple Axel, coupled with Wide Lens, is an accurate STAB move that is guaranteed to hit all 3 times. Knock Off is for dark STAB and also provides good utility in removing items from opposing Pokemon. Ice Shard is for revenge killing weakened Pokemon.

Since Sneasel doesn’t have Heavy Duty Boots and is weak to Stealth Rock, Xatu is a mandatory teammate because it beats the common Stealth Rock setters Diancie, Mudsdale, and Bronzong, along with utilizing Magic Bounce to keep Stealth Rock off of your side. Sneasel being able to be brought in saftley via Xatu’s Teleport is really nice. Diancie is also a good teammate for Sneasel as it can check the fire types Talonflame and Salazzle, as both of them outspeed Sneasel. Diancie also provides Heal Bell Support which Sneasel appreciates so it won’t be crippled by status conditions like burns and paralysis. Electric types like Nasty Plot Rotom-Mow and Heliolisk can be options, as they can deal with bulky water types, which may cause problems for Sneasel.

Choice Band Beat UpWeavile @ Choice BandAbility: PressureEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeAdamant Nature- Knock Off- Triple Axel- Ice Shard- Beat UpThis set with the right support turns Weavile into a wallbreaker with excellent immediate power. Under ideal circumstances(110+ Beat Up base power), it can 2hko even formidable physical walls like Toxapex, Corviknight and Ferrothorn. However, Beat Up’s base power depends on the base attack stats of your team members. This means that you must have team members with high attack such as Kartana, Landorus-Therian and Melmetal. They also do not contribute to Beat Up if they get statused.

Set DetailsAn adamant Nature is used to guarantee 2hkos on Toxapex and Corviknight with Beat Up. A jolly nature may be used if the team needs speed control. Knock off is STAB and annoys walls reliant on their items e.g Tapu Fini’s Leftovers. Triple Axel guarantees a 2hko on Buzzwole. Ice Shard checks setup sweepers like Dragonite and Garchomp.

Team OptionsWeavile weakens walls like Toxapex and Corviknight. Offensive Pokemon that appreciate these being weakened such as Kartana and Garchomp make for excellent partners. Checks to Pokemon that threaten Weavile (e.g Urshifu-RS, Tapu Fini, Scarf Tapu Lele, Tapu Koko etc.) are greatly appreciated. Dragonite, Landorus-Therian and Melmetal are excellent partners for this reason. Nearly every team featuring Beat Up Weavile has these. Landorus-Therian also provides U-Turn and Stealth Rock support. Blacephalon and Dragapult can wear down shared checks like Tapu Fini and Toxapex. Most sweepers with high attack have great synergy with Weavile.

National Dex Monotype (Ice)

You’re using an Ice Mono team and encounter one of the two troublesome omniboosters Jirachi and Victini. The Jirachi or Victini will believe they won the battle after they used Z Celebrate/Z Happy Hour to boost their stats, until you reveal the bolded move in the following moveset.Weavile @ Choice ScarfAbility: PressureEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Punishment- Knock Off- Icicle Crash- Low Kick

Weavile takes one look at an omniboosted Jirachi or Victini and says, “I’ll see you in hail” as it gives Jirachi/Victini aPunishmentfor boosting their stats. Knock Off provides Weavile with a spammable Dark STAB that punishes switch ins by removing their items and is also useful against Psychic and Ghost teams late game. Icicle Crash is used for an Ice STAB. Low Kick is used to deal with Pokemon such as Terrakion, Mamoswine, andthe big bad scaryTyranitar/Mega Tyranitar. Choice Scarf is used as the item to outspeed Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Galarian Zapdos, +1 Jirachi, and +1 Victini.

Punishment has a 160 BP when used on an omniboosted Jirachi/Victini. With STAB, the move will have a BP of 240. Make sure to have Stealth Rock and/or Spikes support to put the mentioned omniboosters in range of being OHKOed by Punishment.

This is my Weavile I have in my team as a physical sweeper. As a Dark and Ice type, you must have at least one or two coverage moves, and have no moves which boost any stats, as wasting one turn may kill your Weavile.

Alright. Lemme explain. Sash and the Special Defense EVs are kind of redundant, but those defensive EVs might let you set up 2 SD’s!Night Slash is just common STAB.Brick Break has nice coverage and works against other Weaviles.Ice Shard is priority and finishes off dragons with ease after a Swords Dance.Pickpocket is a surprise to those banded or scarfed pokes.I hope this set brings victory to many! :D

This set works great for me. With Fake Out as a priority and a little bit of extra damage (also breaks Sturdy and other Sashes), Weavile can’t be stopped. If you’re going up against lets say a scarfed Talonflame, you would first Fake Out, then Night Slash, but the Talonflame will outspeed and break your Sash, and then your Pickpocket would steal his Choice Scarf all on the same turn, your Night Slash will hit and probably leave it close to death, and finally your opponent will know your Weavile is going to win because it now outspeeds with the scarf.

Weavile will simply need the defensive EV’s because its so frail and already good on attack. Use strong moves like Icicle Crash(Flinch) and Throat Chop(Stops sound based moves) because they’re strong stab moves just incase you can’t pull off Swords Dance. Brick Break for obvious reasons like Rock and Steel types(weakness) or breaking Reflect. Swords Dance is in case want to chance a stronger Weavile, which is why its safe to invest in the defensive EV’s knowing Weavile could get hit hard during Swords Dance and a Sitrus Berry for even more health. Then you lose your item, oh look at that, we made his ability useful by giving it a buff move, possible extra health and a chance of stealing the foe’s item before fainting!!

Using swords dance once plus king’s rock will help you deal more to your enemies. Beat up hits 6 times if none of your pokes fainted so you should send it out first. Beat up also has the chance to flinch the enemy so king’s rock will increase the chances. Brick Break for dealing with steel, rock, and dark types. Icicle crash and brick break give weavile access to STAB. So when weavile lives a hit and gets the swords dance off, its going to do massive damage…

Sub-Punch Weavile

Weavile @ Liechi Berry / Salac BerryAbility: PressureEVs: 8 HP / 248 Atk / 252 Spe or 20 HP / 236 Atk / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Substitute- Focus Punch- Swords Dance- Icicle Crash / Ice Punch / Knock Off

A sub-punch set. First use Substitute to get down to 75% health. Then go for either Focus Punch for big damage or Swords Dance to get some more attack. Then Icicle Crash or Ice Punch or Knock Off is just for STAB. The berries are when you get to 25% health when you have used Substitute 3 times so you get a small boost.

Note: 8 Hp EVs is for Lv. 100 Weaviles, and 20 Hp EVs are for Lv. 50 Weaviles.

Weavile@ Focus Sash / Darkinium ZAbility: PickpocketEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Night Slash / Foul Play- Ice Shard- Aerial Ace- Swords Dance

Alright, this set is pretty basic, but it still works well. Since you have Swords Dance, you definitely want Jolly over Adamant. Night Slash and Foul Play are pretty much interchangeable, but if you’re using Darkinium-Z, I recommend Foul Play for the higher power. Once you’ve used up your Z-Crystal, you can then steal the item off your opponent with Pickpocket. Weavile’s Speed is incredible, but there are still some major threats in terms of speed, so I prefer Ice Shard over Ice Punch. You’re screwed without Aerial Ace, and a Focus Sash ensures that you can get in at least one Swords Dance. I have one in-game with this moveset as well.
