FORMAT - Ubers

Wobbuffet @ LeftoversAbility: Shadow TagEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 DefCalm NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Mirror Coat- Counter- Encore- Destiny Bond

ABILITY - Shadow Tag. Telepathy is (almost) completely useless in singles. Although it does help with Trace users, it isn’t nearly as useful as Shadow Tag, which combos quite nicely with Encore and Counter/Mirror Coat.

ITEM - Leftovers works best because it allows Wobbuffet gradual recovery, and works really well with Encore + Shadow Tag.

SET - It depends on whether you want Wobbuffet specially defensive or physically defensive. I prefer specially defensive because of the prominence of Yveltal, Greninja, and other special attacking Dark types. In this case, you would run Calm Nature (don’t forget 0 Attack IVs! This can come in handy not only for confusion, but also for those pesky Foul Play users.) with 252 HP / 252 SpD /4 Def.

MOVES - Wobbuffet doesn’t exactly have the greatest movepool, so I think generally people’s moves of choice will be the same on Wobbuffet. I like running Mirror Coat, Counter, Encore, and Destiny Bond. Destiny Bond is perfect for Wobbuffet due to its ability, Shadow Tag. Encore helps you figure out which attacking stat your opponent is leaning towards. Sometimes you can tell right away (like with a Xerneas), but sometimes it’s harder to identify (like with a Mega Salamence). Or, maybe your opponent is a mixed attacker, but you can force them into a one attacking stat with Encore. Another thing Encore is useful for is to force your opponent to set up (people try doing this quite often on Wobbuffet) and to switch out into a Pokémon that can KO the encored Pokemon. Or, you could be an*** and spam Destiny Bond and use their own setup against them. Counter and Mirror Coat are pretty self explanatory.

If you want to go big, you could run Focus Sash and minimum investment in both defenses, to make Counter or Mirror Coat a guaranteed OHKO. Although, on average, Leftovers is probably better, since Sash makes you extremely susceptible to hazards and status. The moveset would probably look like:

Wobbuffet @ Focus SashAbility: Shadow TagEVs: 252 HP / 252 SpeHasty NatureIVs: 0 Atk / 0 Def / 0 SpD- Counter- Mirror Coat- Safeguard- Destiny Bond

Honestly, Wobbuffet really isn’t that great of a Pokémon. If it had more speed, it could make more use of Destiny Bond, Safeguard, and Encore, but instead you really just have to rely on Counter and Mirror Coat. At least it can serve as an almost guaranteed revenge killer if your opponent has a stat snowball that’s out of control. Focus Sash makes for a more reliable one-time killer, while Lefties gives you a chance to KO more Pokémon but is vulnerable to set-up sweepers (although Encore answers that if they haven’t already set-up by the time Wobbuffet comes in). Overall, though, I’d probably say Leftovers is the superior set:

Wobbuffet @ LeftoversAbility: Shadow TagEVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDBold / Calm NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Counter- Mirror Coat- Encore- Destiny Bond / Safeguard

Unfortunately, investing into the Defenses is a double-edged sword for Wobbuffet, because you’ll be doing less damage with Counter/MC, but it’s necessary for the Leftovers set because you want to take more than one hit.

Doubles Moveset

Wobbuffet @ Ghostium ZAbility: Shadow TagEVs: 252 SpeHasty / Naive NatureIVs: 0 HP / 0 Def / 0 SpD- Destiny Bond- Counter- Mirror Coat- Encore

This set works best in Doubles. Z-Destiny Bond makes your Wobbuffet the center of attention, which means all attacks are directed toward Wobbuffet. Counter is for countering physical attacks, and Mirror Coat is for countering special attacks. Encore is for locking the opponent’s Pokemon into one move. I’m glad that Wobbuffet got some love and now has its own moveset question :)

Hope this will help!

Wobbuffet does not have many attacking moves, but you have many items to use. I like to use this set if I use Wobbuffet.

Wobbuffet @ Red CardAbility: TelepathyEVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpDCalm NatureIVs: 0 Atk- Counter- Destiny Bond- Encore- Mirror Coat

Hopefully this set works for you :)

Good for doubles!Wobbuffet @ Ghostium ZAbility: TelepathySerious NatureEVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe- Counter- Mirror Coat- Destiny Bond- Safeguard / Encore

Z-Destiny Bond makes you the center of attention, and Telepathy is good for doubles if you want to use Earthquake or Surf. That’s about all this Pokémon can do.
