4 minute read

Yveltal special sweeper

Marshadow physical

Zygarde wall

Eternatus revenge or lead

I think I these are the right categories for those Pokémon. Don’t mind the Yveltal pls answer from experience pls. (Online battles in game swsh)

First, you should not just think one Pokemon is your lead and click that same Pokemon during every team preview. It’s better to look at your opponent’s team, think about which Pokemon they might lead with, and make sure your lead does not let the opponent immediately set up a sweeper or force you to sacrifice a Pokemon on turn 1. There are some cases when their lead is extremely predictable (such as when they use a Shuckle). In that case, you should lead with a defogger (like Yveltal) and try to shut down their sticky web strategy as quickly as possible.

Of the 4 Pokemon in your question, I’d say the best lead is usually Eternatus. Against other common leads like Yveltal, Necrozma, and Zacian, Eternatus can comfortably tank most of their hits. This lets it cripple them with toxic, hit them with a super effective flamethrower, or use toxic spikes when the opponent switches to a better Eternatus counter.

If you’re willing to consider adding a better lead, then I suggest this moveset.Kyogre @ choice scarfEVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpeTimid nature- water spout- thunder- ice beam- origin pulseThis Kyogre will outspeed more than 80% of other leads (watch out for opposing Kyogre and Calyrex) and immediately hit them with a rain-boosted and STAB-boosted 150 base power water spout, or a super effective coverage move. Unless the opponent forces you out with a Calyrex or switches to a Palkia while you use water spout, the opponent is almost guaranteed to lose a Pokemon in the first 3 turns.source

A good lead usually has something to contribute for your team, like hazards, weather setting, putting a Pokemon to sleep, or stopping other leads. I’ll review some solid leads.

Swampertis very good, able to set up with Stealth Rock and pivot away with Flip Turn. It also gets moves like Roar to bring more Pokemon into the path of its rocks, and Earthquake to do major damage. It’s quite bulky, and has just one weakness.

Swampert @ LeftoversAbility: DampEVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDIVs: 0 SpeSassy Nature- Stealth Rock- Flip Turn- Earthquake- Ice Beam / Scald / Protect

Ferrothornis another good lead, with an excellent defensive type combination and access to Spikes and Stealth Rock. It also gets Thunder Wave, Knock Off and Leech Seed to further cripple opponents and Power Whip to take out other leads like Swampert.

Ferrothorn @ LeftoversAbility: Iron BarbsEVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpDCareful Nature- Spikes / Stealth Rock- Knock Off- Leech Seed / Thunder Wave- Power Whip

Heatranhas an amazing typing (watch out for that Ground weakness), and can set up Stealth Rock, Taunt, and Magma Plume. It took a hit now that it’s unable to use Toxic, but it’s still very good.

Heatran @ LeftoversAbility: Flash FireEVs: 252 HP / 128 SpD / 128 SpeCalm Nature- Magma Storm- Earth Power- Taunt- Stealth Rock

Azelfis kind of a weird choice, and probably not as good as some of the other Pokemon on the list. However, it functions as a good suicide lead, with Stealth Rock, Taunt, Explosion, and Knock Off.

Azelf @ Focus SashAbility: LevitateEVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Stealth Rock- Taunt- Explosion- Knock Off

Froslassisn’t good, per se, but it’s unconventional and it can work. With moves like Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Spikes, plus Destiny Bond, it can catch an opponent by surprise.

Froslass @ Focus SashAbility: Cursed BodyEVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpeTimid Nature- Spikes- Taunt- Destiny Bond / Will-O-Wisp- Icy Wind

Mewis very versatile, and can have Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Taunt, among other moves, to mess with the opponents.

Mew @ Red CardAbility: SynchronizeEVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Spikes- Stealth Rock- Taunt- Explosion

Excadrillis excellent. It can set up Stealth Rock, Rapid Spin away hazards from other leads, it’s fast, and it can be a potent attacker with Swords Dance, Earthquake, and Iron Head.

Excadrill @ LeftoversAbility: Mold BreakerEVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpD / 252 SpeJolly Nature- Earthquake- Iron Head- Swords Dance / Rapid Spin- Stealth Rock

These are some of the more notable leads. If I find any others, I’ll add them to the answer. If it’s unclear why any of these are leads, I’m happy to elaborate. If you’re actually talking about Ubers, as you say in your tags, then Excadrill is the best in this list. Ferrothorn and to a lesser extent Froslass can also do well.

Hope I helped!
