Where do the Pokemon in PC's go in the anime?

I know that in the anime, Ash sends his Pokemon to Professor Oak which basically implies that, if they have a place to go, the Trainer can send them to a different place like a family or something. However, I’m curious on what the default is - Do they just get stored in a Pokemon Center somewhere? I seen some answered questions about Pokemon Centers bringing up a ‘Poke Ball Room’ and kinda feel like that might be the case.

Also to add on, IthinkI remember in the anime at some episode, this room existed where Team Rocket tried to steal the entire thing - Rows of Pokeballs and all. If that’s the case, what’s the exact episode called?

Pokemon are stored in Poké Ball rooms

Inside a typical Pokémon Center, one can find a front desk, a lobby (sometimes with vending machines), aPoké Ball room, an Emergency Room with plenty of beds for injured Pokémon, a recovery room, a waiting room, rooms for lodging, and a cafeteria

This is where the Pokemon are stored. Multiple episodes show Poke Ball rooms, such asthis one, eventhis one(there’s more but I cant name ‘em off the top of my head), and they aren’t limited to Pokemon Centers as Schools and labs have them too.
