Why are beast balls in Sword and Shield?

Beast balls are only really effective on ultra beasts, and ultra beasts only show up at the end of a dynamax adventure right? And the legendaries at the end of an adventure have a 100% catch rate irrespective of ball choice.

So why are beast balls in the game at all? Do they serve some other purpose I’m not aware of?

If you transferred a Pokemon in a Beast Ball from the Gen 7 games, what would it be in in Gen 8 if there were no Beast Balls? Also, quite a few people enjoy the look of Beast Balls, and the challenge of getting a Pokemon in one. So they’re probably in for transferring reasons and potentially because fans enjoy them.

Because ofa) Continuity. Others have touched on this, but it would be weird to transfer a Beast Ball from Ultra Moon to Sword but have them not be in Sword. Andb) Expansion Pass Gameplay. In the Crown Tundra, there is a way to get the Ultra Beasts and while you don’t necessarily need Beast Balls to catch Ultras, it’s just more fun to have Tesla the Xurkitree coming out of a Beast Ball.Hope I helped!
