Why does my Drednaw do no damage with Water Type moves?

Hello!

So I got Drednaw, and it’s been a great asset on my team! However… the water type moves BARELY do any damage!I used Drednaw against Raihan’s Sandaconda, and Dive barely did any damage to it (less than 1/4 damage done). Is there a reason for this? I’m able to supply screenshots/stats if it helps. Ability is Strong Jaw.

It is most likely because of the nature. It probably has a nature hindering it’s physical attack stat, and on top of that, it might also have poor IVs in that department. It could also have a held item hindering it’s ability to use water type moves. And while unlikely, you also may have been using it during sunny day. It halves water type damage, meaning it did half as much damage as it was supposed to. And you could have also have your Drednaw’s attack stat lowered do to status move. Well, thanks to you telling me your Drednaw’s stats, the only explanation is terrible IVs in attack, and Sandaconda’s psychical defense.

This should probably do with stats and nature. I f your drednaw has a an physical attack hindering nature and an already low attack stat it will naturally do a small amount of damage. held Items may also matter; It would help a lot if you sent screenshots and stats for us to be able to elaborate further.
